Great question. I just went to the official website to see what the roster looked like, and this is it:

Any rumors of coach talking to those that entered the portal? I'd like to have Dix/Pryce/Cooper back but rest can go.
I read somewhere that he had already been calling players yesterday. Not sure if true of course. But you asked about rumors...
Wonder how fast all this happens... or do those in portal wait for the tournament to be over before deciding?

I would like to keep Pryce & Cooper. Obviously Dix, but I think he will chase the money. Can't blame him. But if we could come close, it would be great to keep him.
Traore is a must keep. Really, the whole roster. With maybe one or two being walkons.

Not at all sure there is much to keep from this season.
Get the Drake players and build on that.

Traore and Dix are the ones I really want back. Didn't see enough of Koch to say one way or another. Not sure if Pryce's D will be good enough for McCollum.

I think Tadjo has some upside. But agree that guys like Traore, Pryce and Koch would be important pieces. Assume Dix and Freeman are gone. I am a bit torn on Harding.
If you practice Defense you play Defense. Its not that complicated. Same as rebounding. My High school coach had 20 minute Rebounding session every practice.
I’m confident Ben can coach up Pryce’s defense. Bring him back.
I think it depends who is surrounding Pryce. He can shoot and he can drive. I don't think you keep both Koch and Pryce since they are similar IMO.
I'd like to see Dix and Koch come back, so that means Koch, in reality. Not sure about Sandfort, not even sure why he put his name in the portal so quickly.
I think Tadjo could be an excellent defender and rebounder, and he has a lot of upside offensively as well. Keep him !
I personally just want Ben to get the guys he wants, if it’s Pryce and cooper, great. If neither, sure.
You can tell that Pryce cares about playing defense (he just wasn't taught how).

I wonder if BMac will be talking to Joshua Lewis. I really don't know anything about him, other than he was supposedly the highest ranked recruit in Iowa history. I have a hard time believing that he was really looking forward to playing for Fran, unless he liked the idea of never having to play defense, in which case BMac won't want him, anyway. If BMac wants him, I hope that JL still has some love for Iowa City and would consider re-committing.
One thing to consider is does Pryce's defense look worse because the whole team was bad on defense and didn't prioritize it? Team defense is the key over individual defense and I think Pryce is athletic enough to play good team defense.

Unlike others I'm fine if Pryce doesn't come back. I don't see that as a significant loss.
Johnson-Arigu was a four star wing out of high school. Hope we can keep him.
I disagree, better at creating shots and a better defender than his brother. Will only get better.
Pretty much this. I will trust Ben to go after the guys he wants, and let go the ones he is okay passing on.
Tadjo has a Reggie Evans type body. With development could be a force inside.
I don't think you take all the Drake players IMHO, get the best 3-4 and then get some other athletes on this squad that fits what Ben wants to do.
Have to think BMc can pickup a player or two in the portal with all the visibility he’s gotten. Going to be interesting.

Already 286 as of this morning. You can be assured he saw the best from each valley team so he may target a few there. The portal changes everything when it comes to rebuilding a team.
I understand that attitude, but those guys are/were all Hawkeyes, and it's not their fault that their head coach was terrible and did not develop them into B1G players. I would welcome anyone on the roster or who is in the portal to come back to the Hawks if BMac would like them on his team.
I'd be shocked if there aren't a couple of commits this week.

The good news is that almost all current players have hit the portal, so McCollum can build a team with the guys he wants. I enjoy Josh Dix, but should Iowa pay him a million dollars to stay another year? No. He was a leader on a team that did not make the tournament. Pryce? I probably would like him to stay more than Dix because he will not cost as much.
With the new NIL and revenue-sharing rules, teams can be silly and spend outrageous amounts on "stars" at the risk of creating bad team chemistry. Or they can play Moneyball and build a roster of players that meet needs. I do not see McCollum as one to pay 2-3 guys 75% of the funds available.
If anyone needs to be at the top of the pay scale, it is a 6-4 PG who plays 39 minutes a game and has won 91 games during his career. Even in the seven games he did not start as a freshman, he averaged over 30 minutes of playing time.
