First off I do think that Jordan Bohannon will eventually redshirt this year.

As far as roster decisions, here is my best guess as to who will be starting and playing the most minutes after about the first 5 games of the season:

Starters:
PG - Conner McCaffrey
SG - CJ Fredrick
SF - Joe Wieskamp
PF - C. Pemsl
C - L. Garza

I think that Wieskamp can average 15 plus points a game and be in consideration for All Conference accolades. I think Garza can average 14 plus points and get some Honorable Mention votes for all Conference as well. I think Frederick can be a 10 plus point a game scorer as well.

Bench:
R. Kriener
J. Nunge
J. Toussaint
B. Evelyn
P. McCaffrey

We have a lot of length and at least 4 guys that can consistently hit 3's (Wieskamp, Frederick, Garza, Nunge).

I'll predict 18-13 overall and 10-10 in the Big 10.

Based on last night's performance, Connor is our best bet at PG, at least for now. Toussaint could eventually take over if he settles down and improves his shooting. Fredrick looks like the real deal, which is great to see.

It's hard to project off of an exhibition game against a terrible opponent, but I'll go 8-3 non-conference, 12-8 Big Ten, 1-1 in the B1G tournament for a final record of 21-12. Right on the bubble.

What inside knowledge do you have that Jordan will redshirt this year. Have the coaching staff or Jordan himself told you that that is his intention, or is this based on your observation watching him last night? Come on man lay it on us.

If we go 12-8 in the B1G, we are in..... Got to be

One ex game in, I'm going to revise my prediction.

Luka/Ryan
Cordell/Jack
Joey W/ P McC
CJF/Bakari
C McC/ Joey T.

I'm thinking 5, 3 and 2 are almost carved in stone. Could be really good competition at 4 and the 1 is wildly unpredictable and perhaps the weakest position. Certainly the most uncertain.

I think that's a 22 win team and another round of 32.

Friday cannot get here soon enough, Jesus its still three days away.

As always, it depends on which teams we beat to get those wins. I don't think the conference will be as strong top-to-bottom as it has been in recent years. We'll see. It's possible we could finish 12-8 in conference play and not have a signature win.

Nunge more skilled than Pemsl and Nunge plays outside/in. Pemsl and Kreiner will get minutes of the bench based upon effectiveness.

Nunge can hit open 3's, but I'm not sure he's more skilled. I'd rather see McCaffrey start over them both after what I saw in the exhibition.

Really? I thought Nunge looked very sure and confident. I like Patrick but not at PF and I do think this year he will be served best as energy guy off bench for limited spurts.

Yep, I want the best players on the floor. Nunge is big, and unathletic. Yes he can hit open 3's and rebound against smaller defenders, but so can most college level athletes.

Also, it's all about matchups. Patrick can play the 4 just fine. A lot of people on this board are stuck in the 90's with their way of thinking about positions.

Calm down brah...did you miss the word "think" in the sentence you bolded?

Having said that, I do think it's weird how most on this board feel he will redshirt after watching the exhibition. I only took that as a good sign he will play this year.

I get what you are saying and I do love Patrick's upside and skill-set. I am not stuck in the 90's, I just don't think he is the answer at the 4 or whatever you want to call it as an "inside" player (at least not this year). Yes, he can play there during certain match-ups and as a change of pace line-up but we are going to need Nunge/Pemsl, especially come Big Ten time against teams like MSU, Purdue, and Wisconsin.

We will need Nunge's bulk and rebounding and his ability to at least alter shots inside. From what I have seen from Patrick in high school - and the exhibition game he looked the same - he is not going to be comfortable on the block.

But Patrick looks to definitely be a rotational player and I think he is the heir apparent to Wieskamp. Yes, they can play together at time but I just think we will need what Nunge can do more come conference play. And for a 7 footer, I don't consider Nunge to be unathletic.
