Great game last night (especially for a Royals fan) that the Royals had to have with the de Gromm vs. Cueto mismatch of tonight.

I still worry about stealing one in New York so pulling one out tonight somehow would be huge. The NL with the Mets, Cubs, Dodgers and Cards is going to be tough for a couple years.

Are you saying Cueto is a mismatch versus deGrom? I don't automatically give the Mets an edge. Cueto is a veteran with a lot of experience and one would assume less nerves tonight. The Royals are at home and coming off of an exciting win.

Yeah as a Royals fan who has seen all of Cueto's starts I realize he is capable of a good start he just doesn't instill confidence

The first game of the World Series is history. The Mets and
Royals played a 5 hour 9 minute, 14 inning game, that was
decided by 1 run to give the Royals a victory.

Both teams went through their bullpens like a Taco Bell
Mexican pizza goes through your stomach......plenty of
action.

deGrom may be running out of gas. All those starters for the Mets have that look. They hit their way past Chicago as much as anything else.

Cueto...better at home so far, I like KC's chances tonight.

My best friend was at the game last night, said it was the best sports atmosphere he'd ever been to. Gotta love the WS, even when your team isn't in it.

This. deGrom isn't the unbeatable that they claim. Wasn't Arietta supposed to be unbeatable? Or Kershaw, Greinke, Price, literally all Cy candidates who have lost postseason games?

I don't get this line of thinking. I really didn't get it when Pete Rose said the Royals didn't want to be down "2 games" last night...I couldn't tell if he forgot which game it was, or he was already chalking it up as a loss.

The World Series is a time for new heroes to emerge.
Innings pitched by the young studs of the Mets during
the regular season will impact their WS performance.

If a guy has a tired arm in the post season, then he
will not have his best stuff and cannot rely entirely on
his fastball. Harvey was a good example last night.

I love it the ump is flipping the script on the Mets batters and calling some crappy strikes. Now the Mets know how the Cubs felt when their pitchers were getting an unfair strike zone.

I know coming from a Royals fan it doesn't mean much but I really don't think the Royals are getting any advantage on balls and strikes.

I'm not biased, just glad it will be fresh blood winning but at least in the first 4 innings de Gromm has been able to get some strikes called that Cueto can't. deGromm was dominant right up to the wheels coming off.

Just turn the WS into best of 3. No one cares. It's football season.
Funny that they were showing highlights of the last time these teams were in the WS and it wrapped up a week earlier. Now baseball is competing with the NBA and NHL regular seasons, college and pro football, and it will wrap up in November. That's too long.

When the Twins won it back in 1991, game 7 was on October 27. I was 9, it was epic, etc.

Game 1 of this year's World Series? October 27. We shouldn't have baseball in November.

The Royals got two good players at the trading deadline
in Cueto and Zobrist. Both are helping their new team
in the post season. The Blue Jays got Price and Tutlowski
and they are watching the World Series on TV

Yes, but the Royals were playoff bound regardless. Toronto gets in because of those two.
