Marco is losing, down in every state, down even by 20 points in his home state of Florida. But that's not why what is killing his future career. It's how Rubio is responding to being beaten. He's allowed himself to get dragged into an insult contest. Instead of discussing the issues, Marco now spends his time insulting Trump. He talks about Trump wetting his pants, applying make-up to cover-up lip sweat, and making jokes about Trump having the worse spray-on tan in America. In short, Rubio now sounds exactly like Trump. The two are gripped in a heated battle to see who can insult the other more, and it's making both men look bad.

But Rubio will suffer far more damage. Trump will survive this attack and go onto win the nomination. Rubio will be forced to admit defeat and have nothing but a badly damaged reputation. Marco's behavior in the face of defeat may drive his career into the gutter. People will see him as a clown, just like Trump, but without the benefit of having actually won anything.

Worse is that Rubio is still so young. Just 44. He has his entire political career ahead of him. He could have waited until 2020 or 2024 to run for the White House. He could have shored up his lack of experience with another term. He could have used this time to build an actual list of accomplishments, repair his poor attendance record, and come back stronger than ever.

But now it's questionable that Rubio will be able to come back to anything at all. After this election is over and after he destroys his reputation with this petty game of schoolyard insults, Rubio may never get elected to anything again.

Sad to see a once promising politician ruin his career in such a immature and embarrassing way.

Not really, and bernie is not taking a dive giving it to hills by going after wall st, hes taking a dive by bowing to her majesty

Rubio's approval rating in Florida is 38%, no way he would've won re-election to the Senate in 2016. I get why is acting like this now, this is his shot to be the nominee. He will not have this chance again in four years. We aren't going to nominate a one term Senator four years removed from his position. So if he doesn't get nominated this time, then he wont ever.

Two Points to ponder:

1) I was almost shocked to hear talking heads on Fox say they think this strategy is his only chance. (They've been wrong often in this election.)

2) Americans have short memories. Don't know how he'll reinvent himself, but he has time.

I don't understand. Don't we want our politicians lobbing childish insults at eachother? I thought that's why Trump was winning. You know what they say to do if you can't beat em....

rubio was only one of two serious candidates on the R side. he's devolved into a fellow clown with trump. he looks ridiculous and it will cost him down the road. i don't think it will ruin his career, but i don't know why anyone would take him seriously either.

He is not ruining his career and, according to the very latest poll, he is down seven in Florida.

I don't personally know a single person who likes Rubio down here. My evangelical mother and step-father hate him. My moderate father hates him. My conservative friends hate him. My moderate friends hate him. My liberal friends hate him. My conservative grandparents hate him. Every. Single. Person. That I know, here in Florida, hates him.

When you are talking about conservatives, it is impossible to devolve into anything more disgusting and base than what they already are.

I'm voting for him.

You're the only one down here that I've heard say that. I'm sure there are others. I know there are a few on Big Delivery that will vote for him. That still isn't a lot of people.

We'll see. Wouldn't surprise me if Trump cleans up. There was a bunch of Trump supporters waving signs in New Smyrna Beach today. Didn't see anyone else's supporters anywhere.

The whole "Rubio is hurting himself" theme from leading Dems the last couple days shows you there's something there. They expected things to continue status quo and see Trump waltz into the general. Whether it works to any extent remains to be seen, but he's completely marginalized Cruz, who today has tried to up his fire to match Rubio. I suspect if it wasn't working, the internal pollsters would have told him to stop it already, and Trump is talking about Trump University in his stump speeches now.

Another thing I want to point out is that Rubio is doing the dirty work for the Dems. He's hobbling Trump, airing all his dirty laundry, all while taking all the heat for using the same tactics as Trump. It relieves the Dems of having to debase themselves by getting down in the mud. By the time Rubio and Trump end the primary process, Trump will be battered. Entering the general election after undergoing a knock em out drag them out schoolyard fight won't be good for the Republicans.

He's a pacifist!!!

Correction. I used to be scared of him. Then Christie destroyed him and I saw him as non-viable. Now, I'm starting to feel sorry for him. He's embarrassing himself now.

Marco's redeemed himself pretty after the NH debate.

Marco is not even a one term U.S. Senator. He has
no work ethic about showing up for his job in D.C, The
guy is going to be the son of a bartender for the rest of
his life. He got elected in Florida by the Tea Party and
betrayed them while in office. Florida does not think
much of Marco Rubio.

I thought the politician was supposed to have a vocation or career other than politician for life, originally, that was the plan

Most every other candidate has rolled over for Trump. Christie is now chained to the right hand side of Trump's throne, let of the leash occasionally to attack Rubio. If Trump wins the nomination then at least Rubio went down swinging, and will be fondly though of by the power brokers of the party should he run again.

I've said it many times, Rubio has a 38% approval rating in Florida. The man can't win re-election in Florida. Him wanting to focus solely on running for President and not re-election might partially be true, but the other part is that he cannot win re-election.

If those 38% vote for him on Tuesday, Rubio wins Florida. It's pretty simple. You don't need a majority of the vote to win a 5 man race.
