He theorizes that one of the reasons for Russian intervention in Syria is to publicly display new weaponry. There is some good insight into Putin in the interview and how a dictator can think in longer terms than a US President.

Putin is not known for his 'long game' strategic thinking; he is a tactician.

If baiting him into taking sides against ISIS is a US strategy, then we WILL be enabling him to turn Russia into The New Great Satan, drawing the ire of Islamic militants everywhere. If they turn their focus to him, we're less likely to be targeted by them.

And you seem to not realize Obama used that as a way out of having to do anything. He knew the people DID NOT want this. But he had drawn a red line and Syria crossed it. He was damn sure glad Congress did not authorize force. Stop being an idiot.
