Rutgers coming to get us!

Iowa could lose their next 3 games (including the 1st Rd of the BTT) by 20 points and they will still be in.

The only thing that will happen is Iowa ends up the lowest seed possible for an at-large team (I'm assuming an 11 seed?).

I don't even think they fall to the play-in game because the Bubble is historically weak this year.

Eh...I wouldn’t be so sure. You may be right. Seton Hall and St. John’s both beat RU pretty well and are also in the mix for those last at large bids.

Hawks look like dog doo right now and its not pretty. No excuse for allowing buttgers to come into our house like that. Team has run out of steam and the mental drag of off court issues has drained the squad. Another late season collapse.

Considering we were playing 5 against 8, damn fine win for RU. (Your hand-checking team did not play short-handed)

And you can take your thug comment and stick it, loser. (Nah, it stays for accuracy purposes.)
Lol another handle huh. You must take great pride in that.

Meh, enjoy the NIT if you make it. Congrats on beating Iowa for a signature win. I know it meant so much to your thugs you call players.

:)
There's that word again,lol.

Sorry but only one handle for me so you're obviously confusing me with someone else.

They say that a team reflects the values of the coach. The Iowa coach is suspended for abusive behavior. Meanwhile the Rutgers coach took the mike at the post game press conference, after arguably the biggest regular season win during his time at R U, and the first thing he said was to congratulate the Iowa senior for a great career. Pure class.

The B1G will be our last games. No NIT for us this year it seems.

Don’t get to sure Iowa is in. RU improving and playing well right now but has losses to Columbia and Fordham. That will not sit well with the committee.
I'm fairly certain the Hawks will be in tourney. Hopefully, when they get out of B10 conference games where everybody scouts each other so well and refs allow for more free flowing game, Iowa will get back to winning ways.

I will say this is the greatest Rivals.com schadenfreude thread I've ever seen. It's absolutely incredible and a joy to read.

Thank you all for being part of my journey through your over-confidence, your obnoxiousness, and your misery. As a bystander, it's unexplainably enjoyable.
Edward... that sounds like a gay name, you must be from Jersey.

Nah. Inside and outside the conference teams know you guys are soft. All that packing for the NCAA just to lose and turn around and head back to the middle of no where.

Look Field of Dreams is a GREAT concept. I love baseball...and I love Iowa for creating this fantasy.

New Jersey offers a cosmopolitan atmosphere in many locations (from Jersey City to virtually all counties...in fact it's the only state that has ALL counties designated as Urban). Then there's the Jersey shore replete with Bruce, South Side Johnny... and music benchmarks Bon Jovi, Whitney, Dionne Warwick, Steely Dan, Old Blue Eyes, Kool and the Gang, The Rascals...and many more. C'mon in a game of interest / talent Iowa is an after thought.

Best of luck the rest of the way unless we meet again...in which case I hope you learn to put the New in front of Jersey : don't dis what you can't afford or attain it smacks of envy and jealously.

MO
PS And yes if whoever shot the 3 that beat us at the RAC shot that same shot and angle 1M times, you would have seen his only make!~

Jersey may not even be my most favorite landfill.

Agree. Fans, not so much.

Congrats on the W Rutgers but it’s only one game. Quit acting like you won a title.

Stop poppin s*** to these Iowa fans. R boys demolished their team, as promised by a TRUE FRESHMAN, WHO WASN'T EVEN SUPPOSED TO CONTRIBUTE THIS YEAR BUT HAS GOTTEN BETTER. The game is over. Rutgers fans, let's now focus our efforts on a visiting PoSU team coming in to the Rac on Wednesday stop arguing with road kill the games done.

How can a team honor a guy who is the consummate Mr Hustle...and then come out and play completely flat? How disconnected and disengaged are they? Pathetic

I see your point about scouting but the refs? Doesn't Iowa lead the nation in free throw attempts? Your statement makes no sense.

Lol, I'm the one just out of frame on the way to my bookie to place a bet on Iowa going out 1st game in both the B1G and NCAA tourney's.
Ah so you don't deny being associated with them. No problem.

Thanks for playing.

P.S. Maybe you could take that money you win and buy a ticket to go watch Rutgers' postseason game......

Well I suppose you leave the class to your coach since your reply to me consisted of whining about the officials without supporting your whining, and then called me a loser lol. What class your fanbase must have coming over here in "droves" to gloat because one of your tool fans posted a link to this website.

I know you posted here before the game and quite frankly I don't give a f*** as to the circumstances of how you found this board. Just don't be talking about class and respect if you and your other fans are gonna be hypocrites. And no I also don't give a single f*** if we didn't show you the respect you think you deserve as if that's some excuse.

You wanna fight a battle, I'm fine with that. Just don't talk to me about someone else being classy if you're not going to be, yourself.....

Deal with it. :)

I came here after the game at Rutgers and responded to some kind words about our coach. Came back last night after the game to see how your fans were responding to what had to be a pretty shocking loss. I admit I was a bit hyped up so when I read constant references to Rutgers players being called thugs, I got a but testy. Sorry if I offended you. But the "thug" comments were out of line and classless on the part of several members of this forum. Rutgers has been making a mark in the conference with tough defense and rebounding over the past few seasons under Pike - just listen to the BTN announcers talk about the team. Yesterday our offense came to life as well.
I do take exception to your "whining about the refs" of my 8 on 5 comment. If you want me to back it up, at one point in the 2nd half it was something like 8 foules to 2 favoring Iowa. We were getting called for everything while the refs let Bohannon elbow his way into the crease time and again.

For the record, when it comes to Big Ten fans, from my experiences at Rutgers games, Iowa is tied for my favorite (with Nebraska for the record), when the Hawkeyes came to RU a couple of seasons ago I had very good interactions with Iowa fans at pre game tailgates as well as at the bar after the game. Those I met had a good time visiting Ru and I am hoping to make it to Iowa City next September.
Good luck the rest of the way.

The Knights will be out for revenge when they come to IC. Ron Harper Jr. says Joe Cool couldn't make that final shot if he took it a million more times.
Another player says they are coming to get us after hearing our celebration close to their locker room.

BRING IT ON PUNKS!
And they did. They weren't blowing smoke. A confident team that after playing us there, felt they were better and went out and took it to us.

I do take exception to your "whining about the refs" of my 8 on 5 comment (I really don't care if you take exception to that. In fact, I figured you assumed that was my intention.....:)). If you want me to back it up (Please do, by all means.), at one point in the 2nd half it was something like 8 foules to 2 favoring Iowa (So?......That isn't backing up anything). We were getting called for everything (good) while the refs let Bohannon elbow his way into the crease time and again. (Meh, Bohannon was forced to be more physical as a ball handler because of Rutgers' body to body and hand/arm to body on-ball defense they played.)
You were getting called for everything because you were legitimately fouling Iowa's players. Even Bardo was forced to retract his statements a number of times because he watched the replay and saw what the ref was seeing.

This is also a man who said during our game with Ohio State that any contact with a ball handler is an automatic foul........so I don't want to hear you using what the announcers were saying as justification to complain.

What I want from you, as I was told by other referees, who post online, want fans that complain about officials to do.......is cite specific instances where you felt the officials made incorrect calls, so that people can see why you would think that the referees were favoring Iowa, as opposed to just calling an even game (and letting Rutgers get away with all the hand-checking and armbar defense that they did in our first meeting as well..........)

Just sayin.

1 example - Bohannon in the 1st half kept clearing out with his elbow.

Bardo was incredulous about the no calls.

There were also a lot of touch fouls on our bigs in the paint.
That kind of refereeing makes the games so boring and slow.
Bardo even said how the game slowed to a crawl with so many touch fouls in the 2nd half.

There were plenty of times we fouled your guys, but not nearly as many as were called.

That said, Rutgers fans should shut up and stop crowing on an opposing fan’s message board.
I hate that crap.
Just takes the whole thread down, and makes each side less likely to give credit to the other team and engage in civil discussion, which can be fun vs always talking amongst fellow fans.

Good luck going forward.

Also, I enjoyed the video interview with your senior Nicolas Baer on your main page. Seems like a very nice young man and definitely not someone I would root against.

You seem to put a lot of stock into Bardo as a referee? Not seeing Bohannon initiate "clearing out with his elbow" as you see it, unless perhaps as a defense mechanism to being clutched/grabbed. Apparently, on Rutgers board the majority of fans think Bohannon is so weak/little (he is quite small), so why would his little elbow "clear out" even impact the big/bad Rutgers defenders?

Bohannon’s elbow clear outs cancel out the fact that defenders maintain contact with him at all times and rarely get called for it

1 example - Bohannon in the 1st half kept clearing out with his elbow. (The refs were allowing some stuff both ways. Bohannon was allowed to be more physical because Rutgers defenders were riding him while he had the ball all game long. It's called freedom of movement. Rutgers wasn't allowing it and certainly didn't the first time we played either. In fact that's been the issue in Iowa games since the Northwestern game.)

Bardo was incredulous about the no calls. (And then he quickly retracted almost all of them once he saw the replay.)

There were also a lot of touch fouls on our bigs in the paint. (Don't push off then. There were a number of fouls called on them for displacing guys inside which is suppose to be a point of emphasis for officials.)

That kind of refereeing makes the games so boring and slow.
Bardo even said how the game slowed to a crawl with so many touch fouls in the 2nd half. (Then don't play so aggressive and handsy and up in your face on defense and you won't get called for those fouls.......but teams have to in order to defend Iowa's offense, and unfortunately officials had been allowing it, which is a big problem.)

There were plenty of times we fouled your guys, but not nearly as many as were called. (As I alluded to before, your team probably should have been called for more fouls. Not less. And Iowa stupidly decided to stop driving at the basket late in the game with you guys in foul trouble.)
Just sayin.

You guys think any physical contact whatsoever should result in a foul call?

That is definitely not east coast (or NBA) basketball.

If I hear you correctly, you must enjoy watching women’s basketball, in which most refs blow the whistle whenever someone is in the vicinity of another player going up for a shot. Very tough to watch that and not get disgusted.

I know basketball isn’t football, but basketball is supposed to be a physical game with contact.

It is much more enjoyable to watch when players are allowed to make plays, and not stand around watching a FT shooting contest, or playing a game of HORSE.

I’m actually enjoying this Rutgers interaction thread.

At least they are in our conference. Usually we just have Iowa state representing the worst athletic departments in the country on this board.
