1. Hate these kind of games.
2. We missed one Mr Woody in the 1st half on the board.
3. Rutgers is small but quick.
4. 1st game in a while our bench was cold ... except for Wagner..we saw a glipse.
5. Nice to see C Williams get a little time at the wing.
6. Gesell didn't look like himself...hope everything is ok there..

1. Agreed
2. His absence made the lane available for Rutgers to take advantage of, and they did towards the end of the first half
3. Their guards can get to the rack, agree.
4. Bench + Gesell, cold as ice. Painful to watch at times.
5. He looked good out there, I liked him spotting up that 3 ball. He did whiff of a layup though...I think it was him.
6. I think he's fine. Tried forcing some stupid passes, forced some shots that he usually doesn't take. I think it was getting to him that he wasn't able to put the ball in the hoop. Let's hope that doesn't carry over to the Purdue game.

I wasn't a fan of the zone. They broke it down pretty easy and got to the rack. I think if we had came out pressing to start the 2nd half, forced some turnovers, we would have ran them out of their gym. I like the length we had in there on a few possessions, like the announcers said, with Clemmons, Uhl, Jok, Uthoff, and Woody. That's a lot of arm span to get passes around and shots over.

Not a pretty W, closer than it should have been, and our starters had to eat some more minutes than I was hoping they were going to have to, but it's a W none-the-less.

Go Hawks!

Rutgers played hard. Give them credit. Never really felt like we were in any threat to lose the game.

Really bad defensive effort other than that little stretch at the end of first half, effort being the key word.

Giving up that many points to Rutgets is not good.

Looked like they were never really dialed in.

Iowa showed why they will be hard to beat no matter how badly they play in most aspects though.

If all else fails they can just out shoot most opponents .

ok well there it is...didn't catch Fran's post game comments but dolph just said Gesell a little hammy issue....I didn't think his shot looked right and then when he passed up the lay up...very difficult to jump to shoot and come back down on it...hopefully not serious.

Kind of a trap game IMO. RU played hard, and I wasn't surprised since they were blown out by 50 at home vs Purdue. It was an"off night" for the Hawks, yet I never felt they were not in control. Wagner was solid off the bench, guys gonna be a beast next year.
Bottom line : not our best effort but with a long season your bound to have a couple of off nights. Still leaving town with a solid road win and time to get ready for our hated rivals

That explains it, I was thinking when we was trying to drive and shoot he looked like he was pushing the ball more than usual and when driving he didn't have that conviction in it.

MG looked like he was short arming his shots and free throws...

Sapp is my mid season award winner for biggest pleasant surprise on the team.

Maybe the worst defensive effort all year by the Hawks, especially guarding the basket. I hope that improves a lot Sunday.
