How do I find out when tickets become available and also where is the best place to buy tickets.
Thank you for any advise you can give

7/25/16 at 9am EST is when they go on sale through Rutgers. I got this information from the Rutgers athletics website using their chat service (nice feature).

I asked where the visitors sections are and while I can't remember exactly, I remember it wasn't terrible (top few sections on the sideline, 210-213 maybe).

I'm not sure where the best place will be to buy tickets, I'm going to see what's available when they go on sale and then maybe go on the secondary market. I always struggle deciding between sitting with Iowa fans or sitting in better seats.

It's Rutgers right? Just go to the ticket office the day of the game. I assume you'll be about 10 rows up at the 45 yard line.

Right. That's part of the reason I don't think I'll go through their ticket office, unless I get some really good seats. The problem for me is when I travel that far, the last thing I want to deal with is getting tickets the day of the game. I want to show up, drink some beer and have a good time.

The priorities are in the correct order

I hear you, although dirt cheap tickets could probably be had the day of..i would not feel calm going to New York without the tickets.

NO WAY I would pay full price. I'd wait and check stubhub close to gameday. Might not be as cheap as a scalper but for a Rutgers game it'll still most likely be dirt cheap a few days before the game and you're assured that it's a real ticket and you'll know that you have it secured before you get on the plane.

I would assume that it will be very similar to Iowa's trip to Maryland 2 years ago - look on StubHub a little later this summer and I'm sure you'll find some very good tickets for well below face value.

Bad joke.;) PSU and Michigan fans said the same thing and a lot of their fans never made it into the game. This is Iowa first time coming through to Rutgers and you're coming off a great season, so expect it to be a sellout. The stadium seats around 54K and Rutgers average about 48K. Visitors usual sit in the southwest section (lower bowl: 101 & 102) of the stadium next to the student section and upper deck above those sections. Here's a link showing the seating chart.

As NYC hawk, I stand by my post.

Ahh, the famous since I live nearby I know better than the rest.:) In Rutgers' first B1G season (2014) they average 51K in a 54K seat stadium. In 2015 Rutgers averaged 48K during a bad season and it still had them above the FBS home attendance average. Rutgers doesn't have a large stadium, but for B1G competition the fans come out. Rutgers currently has 34K season ticket holders and another 10K for the student section. That leaves about 10K for the general public and visitors. There hasn't been a strong presence from visitors because they underestimated the level of interest from local people. Ohio State had the largest showing with somewhere near 10K. PSU had about 5K and Michigan fans were shocked there weren't a ton of available seats leading up to the game. Also, Rutgers uses dynamic pricing which keeps ticket price high if it's a good opponent. Iowa is the defending B1G West Champs, so expect there to be a high demand. I think that's what caught Michigan fans by surprise.

I expect East cost Hawkeye fans to invade. The game is the last weekend in September, it should be awesome weather. It could be a tough ticket, I'd buy sooner rather than later.
