Also, Rutgers really likes their guys.I get that, but it’s more Psu very good than Rutgers bad at those weights.

In the post Rutgers dual presser after being asked point blank about any thought he might have (or have had) of transferring to start elsewhere, Terrell said he doesn't look at things that way.Barraclough is wasting his time at PSU if he is that good
ASU would be my guess for him next year for grad schoolIn the post Rutgers dual presser after being asked point blank about any thought he might have (or have had) of transferring to start elsewhere, Terrell said he doesn't look at things that way.
He expressed being grateful for his opportunities and the value of full faith in the coaches and the process. He said something to the effect that he knows the Penn State room is the place he has to be, if he is to become the best version of himself, in all things (wrestling and life). He also mentioned the joy and motivation he gets from wrestling Mitchell Messenbrink daily.
So yeah, he doesn't see it as a waste of his time. He sees it just fine - grateful for what he has; no gnashing of teeth about what he doesn't have.
Well I guess if he had no intentions of being a full time starter then he made the right choice of program and I’m glad it makes him happy. I’m always impressed how Cael can find these guys who would start on many other D1 programs and convince them to be longtime room guys. With the portal making transferring easier, we will see if he can continue this magic. In the post Rutgers dual presser after being asked point blank about any thought he might have (or have had) of transferring to start elsewhere, Terrell said he doesn't look at things that way.

It's the quality of the room. PSU offers these guys the best chance to move forward with wrestling is my guess. If maybe you're good but not a finalist or champ, you will still get a lot out of the program. Imagine if you want to coach, maybe at a high school or even at some other college? Psu might offer you the best training ground to accomplish that goal.Well I guess if he had no intentions of being a full time starter then he made the right choice of program and I’m glad it makes him happy. No one caresWhat’s been lost here is that both Barraclough and Cochran are from Utah…
Correct. He's certified at 157. Anyone saying he can make 149 doesn't know what they are talking about. If he could do that, Kasak would be redshirting.I'm not sure about 149. It's my understanding that he cut to 160.2 to stay within range of 157 in case Levi goes down, not that he walks around at 160 full feed. Definitely seems like a natural 157 though.
He gave a diplomatic answer about that, and I'm sure he is genuinely enjoying being a part of one of the best teams in college wrestling history, but it would not surprise me even slightly if he were to transfer to somewhere else to get a chance to start next year. Even if Starocci leaves after this year, Facundo is coming back and Ryder and Healey are joining the fray along with Haines and Mesenbrink, so starting spots at 157-174 are going to remain hard to come by. He has a chance to be an AA at 157 or 165 next year if he goes somewhere else.In the post Rutgers dual presser after being asked point blank about any thought he might have (or have had) of transferring to start elsewhere, Terrell said he doesn't look at things that way.

A big part of it is how much he improved over time in the room. I know some of the dumber people on here believe Cael succeeds only at recruiting and PSU only wins because they are 3 deep with top 10 pfp recruits at every weight, but that is clearly not the case. Barraclough was given an opportunity to lock down the starter role at 157 in each of the last two years, and in both years, he failed to do it and they had to switch guys midyear. Two years ago, they portaled Berge back to take the spot and last year, they pulled Haines's shirt, so while he certainly looks the part this year, training for 4 years in the PSU room is no small part of the reason. It's only now that talk of transferring somewhere to start really makes sense.Well I guess if he had no intentions of being a full time starter then he made the right choice of program and I’m glad it makes him happy. Pretty much the Zach Glazer story or Colby from last year for us. They were lucky enough to have a year where we didn’t recruit well and they got a shot. Obviously PSU not only recruits far better than anyone, but Cael can easily go get a top guy for a year or 2 in the portal before he would give a guy like Barraclough a year as a starter.A big part of it is how much he improved over time in the room. Well, he did actually give him two years as the presumed starter, but it wasn't working out (he was 1-4 in B1G duals in 22 before losing his first one again last year), so each time they had to go to plan B. The difference with Penn State is having a plan B the caliber of pulling a shirt for a kid who can make the finals, but he did actually give Barraclough the first shot to claim the spot.Pretty much the Zach Glazer story or Colby from last year for us. It's a Rutgers thread. LOL.Forgot I'm reading an Iowa wrestling forum.
I’m old enough to remember Brands trying to bring in AJF to be your 197 lber instead of Glazier this season.Pretty much the Zach Glazer story or Colby from last year for us. Rutgers dead wrestling program > Penn State try hards #confirmedGeneral shittiness doesn’t change that the backup 165 at psu beat a ranked 174 lb Rutgers wrestler while what looks like a 197 backup beat a top ten Rutgers heavyweight.
