You obviously have zero experience dealing with kids mental health or families dealing with this issue. Wait until your family has a child transitioning and see if you still have such a negative outlook on an issue you know little about.
I agree with you. But sports does not need to be part of it. Biological males in girls sports is asinine. In the younger years it isn’t a big deal to have them compete together but at some point it should be over with. Maybe not at 4th grade, but at least soon after. If there’s a boys bracket this kid should be in it.

Remember during COVID we were all supposed to wear a mask, social distance and get the jab because science said so? "Trust the science" was the repeated message. I guess that isn't the case when it comes to gender identity - no more trusting the science?
Honestly I would wait for all the facts on this one. The only thing you can find on it is from the Iowa Standard who then reposted it on Facebook. They don't even list who the author is.
Males have a huge advantage physically over females, like it or not. Sports need to be separated by gender. Watch a cross country meet and compare the times. Watch a mens/womens basketball game and compare them. Compare weightlifting lifts between males and females at similar weights. There is no comparison. Except in very rare cases, pay attention when you go to the bathroom. Bioligy decides whether you are male or female, like it or not. It really is that easy and no I don't hate women or transgenders. Feeling a certain way and actually being a certain way are two different things.
What about those that use common sense. The vax rush and mask garbage was idiotic. Having boys compete in girls brackets is equally idiotic.

(Not directed at YUB) BTW, I am leaving this thread up because it has to do with wrestling and seems to be a contemporary issue in sports these days but if it devolves into "My guy good, your guy bad" or starts taking turns into other topics, then I'm going to lock it.
I'll trust @IAChief32 and @WildTurk to make the distinction between when we're crossing the line into politics and non-sports discussion, but the science in this area is much more complex than many would like to consider, and that's just not talking about transgender people, but sex and gender in general. As to this specific case, I don't know enough to have an opinion, but if this is a 4th grader, this is much ado about nothing as far as the actual competition. As to the parent and the child and the "psycho mom" aspect, I have no idea.
In general, this issue takes up too much space given the amount of people it affects. For example, at the NCAA level, there are over 500,000 active athletes and less than 10 total transgender (male and female) athletes. Yet this gets discussed as if there are hundreds of transgender athletes throughout collegiate sports. That's not to say I have a firm opinion one way or the other at this level, but the amount of air space this takes up is baffling given the relative level of the issue.
"Trust the science" really means "shut up and comply because you can trust the people that make a boatload of money off of your ignorance".
It is almost always a very screwed up, dysfunctional family where these problems occur. They would never be "transitioning" in my household. Now, what they do after they move out as an adult would be their problem.
There should be no such thing as a child “transitioning” ,they still think Santa exists. You can’t vote until you’re 18. You can’t enlist in the military until you are 18 years old. You can’t buy alcohol or tobacco until you are 21 years old, BUT it’s ok for a 10 year old to decide they are the opposite sex. GTFOH. Leave the kids alone until they are 18 and can make a Huge adult decision. If they want to act like the opposite sex, dress like, or do there hair and make up like they want, so be it. They should not be doing and medication (testosterone/estrogen) or surgery until they are at least 18 years old.

I have a transgender child, female to male, and he agrees that trans women should not be allowed to participate in female sports.
I just thought everyone should know that and I will not be participating in this thread again.

There are people born intersex or hermaphrodites. These people do exist, even if their parent chose what sex parts to keep, these individuals chromosomally are not just one sex. I can't begin to fathom what these people will have to face, but some compassion is warranted.
As for kids at this age level, parents have to respect other kids in the competition as much as their own.
The mask garbage and Vax rush saved millions of lives. If masks(good ones) were available and vaccines were available earlier with people getting them, that would have saved 500,000 american lives. The science was available, but some did not take an advantage of that.
I think you should participate in this discussion because it’s important for others to read your perspective.
Yes, most people on the right are bigoted and hateful when it comes to this issue, but not everyone. For me, it’s an issue I don’t understand but am willing to be open-minded and learn about. When it comes to competitive sports, I believe it is necessary to maintain fidelity to Title IX. I am also curious if doctors and other medical providers have found a way to determine if people suffering from gender dysphoria are actually a different gender than their biological sex or if they are struggling with mental health issues that are causing the confusion.
