Well this one shouldn't surprise anyone. After separating the fraud and campaign finance violation charges they found SBF guilty in his first trial for fraud/money laundering and has now dismissed everything relating to campaign finance. Completely unacceptable but not surprising. Here is a BBC article for those that want to read more. The whole "public interest" to move on part is especially laughable.

What are the theories for why he didn't get out of the first one? Did he just forget to remind the pols that they needed to shield him?

We wouldn't want to find out who he donated to and how, that might embarrass the left.
I suspect a lot of the names on his list of donations match up to names of people who hung out with Jeffrey epstein on the regular.

Here's the list of his buddies. Mostly Democrats but also some Republicans as well. SBF gave biden more than 5 million dollars..

Ragnar my man, you know I've told you a half dozen times now that I don't want trump to be president again or near politics in general lol
Does that go for all of your little characters on here, or just the Scruddy one?

This is horrific but not anywhere near the problem this country has with trump and the republicans that prevented convictions on his impeachment. Sbf is the problem we always knew existed. Trump is a problem the Republican Party created and endorsed that threatens democracy.

I only have this one account, sorry to disappoint.

Both impeachment attempts against Trump were bogus lol

SBF may be the biggest fraudster in the history of this country and our political class is complicit. Bernie Madoff himself has nothing on FTX

And why the hell does the Georgia Federal Elections Committee need donations? That one seems like there should be a little bit of an investigation into it.
I'm sure Ole raffensberger, who is currently fighting to avoid a judge's order to testify about how he runs elections, would not like us to discuss that.

With just the most basic internet search skills you could conduct your own investigation and learn that despite the official government sounding name, it's just a political action committee (PAC). In 2022 they spent about a half million dollars supporting Raphael Warnock's candidacy. In 2020, it was about double in support of Joe Biden.

Question:

Could local prosecutors pick and choose political recipients from these lists and file state charges against SBF? or against the recipients?

Could this decision backfire and result in a dozen or so additional trials instead of the one Federal trial? The feds have all the evidence, and the case has been mostly assembled, so why couldn't local prosecutors take up the cause based on related state laws?

It would seem that money-hungery state prosecutors could realize a high ROI, given the smaller amount of time required to grab a share of the spoils. Just filing charges against the politicians involved would cause most of these sleezy politicians to disgorge the donations. (Could the various states grab those monies?)

........................................................

It seems from watching the Trump nonsense, that our federal system is coming apart ... and it appears to require only a single roguish prosecutor situated out there in the land to bring charges against any and all participants in the various shenanigans taking place in our society.

Why not in this situation?

And still messier, why not file state level lawsuits against anyone who touched the money ... in particular the local officeholders or aspiring officeholders?

An interesting series of questions.. I'm not sure what the answers are but would also be interested in hearing from anyone who may know.

Damian Williams, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, wrote in the letter to the Court that "a second trial would not affect the United States Sentencing Guidelines range for the defendant, because the Court can already consider all of this conduct as relevant conduct when sentencing him for the counts that he was found guilty of at the initial trial."

So now, the question of prison time goes to Judge Kaplan.

The sentencing date is March 28 at 9:30 a.m. ET. The FTX founder faces more than 100 years in prison.

Only 100 years, how many years would he face if he didn’t donate to republicans and democrats? 500 years?

You think people can be "born in wrong body."

ABSOLUTE retard.

Transgenderism has existed forever. Recorded throughout history.

Nice use of a derogatory term though.

Studies show that those who willingly use such disrespectful, derogatory terms were usually the victims of the terms themselves.

I'm sorry about your mental disability, E.D., but you really shouldn't be dropping disrespectful terms.

Your mental incapacity isn't an excuse to be the bigoted P.O.S. you are.

Please, PLEASE, drop that term in real life.

See what happens, you simple little boy.

😘

What kind of retarded, "born in wrong body" horseshit is this?

There are two sexes. Sex is determined at the formation of the zygote. You DO know how a zygote is formed, right, dipshit?

Any outliers of the female/male binary are genetic and/or developmental anomalies and, yet, remain female or male, but with anomalie.

Because your cousin had a sixth toe on his hoof and he thought "taffeta looks pretty on me" doesn't mean humans have eleven toes or that he's a "trans woman," you retard.

He's a male who may like stuff not "traditionally" male, but you should stop encouraging him to speedball exogenous hormones and wear a "PROTECT TRANS YOUTH" t-shirt in XXL.

"Socratic"

LOL!

"Ishmael"

A Melville reference?

telling someone to not use the word "retard" while implying that person is retarded is peak retard.

Yep. On every continent and throughout history. Many cultures accept trans people and have for decades or even centuries. And they don’t describe themselves as being “born in the wrong body”. That’s some MAGAt brained idiocy. But don’t waste too much of your time arguing with these low IQ bigots. Just point out that the APA, the largest group of licensed psychologists in America, has concluded (after decades of research) that transgenderism is NOT a mental illness. The only adverse effects is in dealing with these bigoted Conservative losers.
