This is about 3 minutes but very illuminating. Sam makes a great point I have never considered until now. Trump lies so much not to deceive but so that people don’t believe anything and become indifferent.

This is the pathway to true authoritarianism, and that is where Trump is taking us.

Harris’s last line is so true—half the population believe trumps obvious lies is terrifying.

I don't think Trump is smart enough to use such tactics.
But he has a bullshitter’s instincts - which can guide him to behave in a strategic manner even if he doesn’t grasp the logic behind the behavior.

Part of why he gets away with stuff is because the sheer volume of his atrocious behavior makes it impossible to focus on any one thing because within hours something else comes along.

Thank you, @NoWokeBloke, for continuing to add to my reaction score. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Trump is a dumbass and lacks intellectual curiosity. That’s why he can publicly muse about the efficacy of ingesting disinfectant, talk about Frederick Douglass in the present, opine about aviation during the Revolutionary War, drone on about the size of one man’s penis for ten minutes, brag about how much of an expert he is on novel viruses, or sound off about a long list of other things he clearly has no ****ing clue about.

All of that doesn’t mean Trump isn’t a master manipulator. He is. And he knows exactly how to con idiots and turn them into obsequious fools who will scream to high heaven that Trump has turned water into wine, shits bricks of gold, has every world leader bend the knee every time he posts on X, and has doubled the value of beachfront property in Des Moines, all before he has had time to play the back nine.

Yes, Trump is an idiot. But he is a clever idiot who knows how to manipulate a large swath of imbeciles. If that hasn’t become clear to you by now, I suggest you peruse contributions to this board from the following:

@Sullivan
@stanzithemanzi12
@RicoSuave102954
@NorthernHawkeye
@Whiskeydeltadeltatango
@Scruddy

And that’s a short list off the top of my head.

I still can't get over how screwed up the thinking was after the Biden debate. Americans were upset with the old guy stumbling over his thoughts but the old guy who lied 30 times was the winner.

Stupid stupid country.
What you are forgetting is that many were unhappy with both candidates prior to the debate. After the debate, many were still unhappy with our voting options. The shittier candidate won. Not a lot we can do about it, except electric slide at protests and vandalize Tesla’s.

You see the same thing here with some of the MAGA people

Unhappy with both candidates....again, because the country is stupid.

I think very few minds were changed in that debate. Most Biden supporters knew he was old and losing his mind, but knew the alternative was a threat to democracy.

Most Trump supporters hate the government, trans people, and/or brown people, or reside in the manosphere, so he's their guy.

It was the true swing voters, one or two percent of the electorate that saw in that feeble old man their own personal experience with a grandparent in the early stages of mental decline. They knew fully well that he wasn't up to another four years and felt like he simply wasn't up to the job anymore.

Great source rags. Really good stuff lmfao

So you were happy with the choices of Biden, Harris and Trump?

Biden wasn’t going to beat Trump in round 2. Harris didn’t beat Trump. What was there to be happy about?

It really tells you how bad Biden’s performance was that trumps looked…decent in comparison.

There seems to be a thing where if you act like a doofus constantly somehow people manage to ignore it and focus on the negatives of the serious people.

Boring Johnson sort of did the same shit. Like the media used to beat up David Cameron because he went to elite private schools as a boy but didn't really give Johnson the same treatment even though he was in the same freaking class as Cameron and where photographed together multiple times.

I don't know I don't get it. We're living in idiocracy but with a much dumber president is the best I can do.

It wasn't about being happy it was about choosing the person that was going to maintain America's leadership in the world or the one who was going to throw it all down the drain.

A plurality chose the one who was going to throw it down the drain. Then most of them are going to be shocked that America will not be able to get it's way through diplomacy like it used to.

I started getting worried about our populace when, after Clinton, we elected Bush because Gore was "boring". I agree with you.

I choose the person who wasn’t going to throw it all down the drain. I wasn’t “happy” about making that choice. Sucks that it didn’t work out. I wish more people would have voted for her. I will exercise my right to vote again in Nov ‘26 and again in ‘28. I don’t find much value in bitching every single day about things I can’t control.

My investments are down today. I leave for CA in a few hours and start my new job. Life is still good.

That's the sad part. Biden will go down as a great president. Compare him to the last 2 months and where we stand in the world and what's happening here. The worst you can honestly say about Biden is that he was adequate. At worst Kamala would have been professional and adequate. Neither were anything like this corrupt administration. It's frustrating to many of you don't understand that. We have literally turned all of our century long allies against us in 2 months. We weren't the bad guys with Biden/Harris. Now we are. It's sad.

Hopefully your future votes matter. I'm glad your life is good. It is NOT for MILLIONS of Americans. Trump's billionaire cabinet is quite happy with it, however, because they don't ever have to worry about the shit we do.

Lololol Biden is going to go down as the worst president in modern history. Everything he did was a failure. Afghanistan, inflation, covid policy, pardonging his criminal family, etc.. all fails.

We can agree to disagree about Biden being a great President. I agree that he was adequate.

I also agree that he was not as corrupt as the current administration. I’m not sure why you direct this at me. Trump is a criminal and corrupt.

The liberals on this board have an extremely difficult time separating those of us who have some conservative political leanings with the MAGATs.

Agreed. It's become an issue in this country to have a mind of your own.

Has trump pardoned his entire family for crimes? Pretty wild stance given 10% for the big guy and all that

Life is still great for millions and millions of Americans. I’m sorry that you see it this way. I try to stay positive for my family and all those around me. I hate Trump, but I’ll go from 53 to 57 during his term. Life is too short.
