Reminds me of the Chixoy Dam project in Guatemala in the 80s with the Rio Negro massacres. Those were facilitated by American money and might as well.

We sit on the tailgate of the American project, facing backward while speeding forward, listening to the driver as he shouts back distorted descriptions of the road ahead. It's often not until we look down at the road we have already traversed, that we see what we have crushed in our path. Those of us who occasionally strain our necks to get a view of the path we are taking are often horrified at what we see.
