Say goodbye to Kum & Go

In NoVa, there is a series of restaurants owned by a couple of young asian bros; all of the restaurants have cheeky names:

"Chasin' Tails" (cajun seafood);
Teas'n You
Lei'd Poke
Roll Play

The parent corp is Happy Endings Restaurant Group

This happened a while ago lol maverick leadership committed to dropping the name from day 1.

I heard they may rebrand it as the jizz n jet.

They wanted to call Eggs and Jam in West Des Moines Me So Hungry. People got mad. Owners have a company called Butterface, LLC also.

I will never set foot inside Maverick store

I have a decision to make. My very nearby K&G I can get ethanol free gas in 87 and 91 octanes. The store opened in I believe 2009 and I've never had a fuel related issue with any of my vehicles or my OPE.

It's just so damn easy to fill there. 2 minutes from home, easy access to get there...the perfect location for me.

The next 4 closest stations are all Casey's, which I had awful issues with for years prior to K&G moving in. I NEVER buy Casey's gas as a result.

The closest KT is about at least a 10 minute drive one way. It's not along the way to anywhere I normally go during my week.

Ugh...

Casey's gas is absolute TRASH.

My work truck is a 2020 Dodge Ram 1500.....got a full tank of Casey's fuel (87) the other week because I had no other choice at the time (put non-Casey's 91 in every other time) and literally every morning for a week when I would start my truck it would bog down, gurgle and it actually even died once until it got warmed up.

Burnt through that tank and then everything was fine again.

Yep. I can count on one hand the times I've gotten Casey's gas within the last 15 or so years. Once K&G and Kwik Trip expanded massively in the last 15 or years in eastern Iowa, I stopped going to ANY other stations than those two.

I can't figure out why you'd buy a company for the market share that was built in no small part by the name and then get rid of the one thing that set it apart from everything else. Oh well. Go Capitalism I guess.

Has anybody hipster ever bought Maverick merch?

I hope for the sake of the gal who works at my favorite K&G that Maverik is super chill about being high at work. She was on the reefer tonight.

If you’re near a Casey’s, you should be near a Kwik Serve, too. Problem solved. Why don’t you think Maverick won’t use same gasoline suppliers locally as K/G? There are QT and Get n’Go options options available, too. Isn’t K/G going to keep a couple of the local DSM stores stores under their current banner?

I'm in CR, south side near Kirkwood. Casey's dominates everything closest unfortunately, and these aren't the 16 pump Casey's but the old school sized stores.

My current K&G is, not kidding, 2 minutes away, and has non-ethanol 87 and 91 pumps galore. Its proximity, quick in and out, and perfect choices is awesome compared to the nearest Kwik Star, which is a cumbersome 10-15 minute drive one way to the nearest one.

Over time, the extra time and miles adds up. It's obviously a wait and see proposition - no idea what Maverik will do with the pumps as well as where they'll source their gas. My first 5 years living here, I ALWAYS had issues with gas powered anything until K&G moved in.

I just don't want to lose that "easy quality" is all. Hopefully, Maverik doesn't try to reinvent the wheel here with regards to the fuel options of my store.

We used a few Maverick’s out West last winter…my opinion was quality wise they are very similar to K/G and maybe a step up. Clean, well stocked and decent selection of freak foods. We plan on using them again this next trip West in a couple of months.

Casey's < Quik Trip < Maverik ~ Kwik Star/Kwik Trip

Maverik has pretty tasty burritos. Their pizza ain't bad. Sandwiches meh. They do sell hard booze. A lot of them have Cinnabons. Coffee is good.
