the more i think about this, the more i think this is a really ignorant comment.

Michigan has been a cellar dweller for about a decade now and Iowa has beaten Michigan 4 of the last 5. It should really be Iowa doesn't "get to" play(beat) Michigan again this year.

Furthermore, MSU and Iowa are historically 50/50 with each other. MSU doesn't "have to" play Iowa this year, they are lucky. maybe they will get a chance if they can beat OSU.

So in reality, regarding our schedule, Iowa doesn't have to play OSU this year, doesn't get the opportunity to compete with MSU again, and doesn't get to make Michigan their whipping boy again this year.

but that's kind of a mouthful!

and heck, we don't get to play PSU this year, that is usually an auto - W for Iowa.... no fair!

If you don't think Harbaugh hasn't changing the way Michigan plays football then you're a very naïve person ! Does that mean the Hawks should fear them, absolutely not ! But to think that's a automatic win is crazy.

The problem is that many outside of Iowa seem to assume that since Iowa doesn't have to play Michigan, MSU or TOSU that those games would automatically be losses. I agree fully that Harbaugh has raised the level of play at Michigan, I also believe the Hawks have raised their level of play this year as well. It works both ways. The reality is, Iowa has no control over the schedule the Big 10 gave them this year and yet some seem to almost want to vilify the Hawks for something they have no control over.

Agree, however we'll end up playing one of those teams in the CCG, then the Hawks can show everyone what they're made of !

While that may be true, it is Michigan who does not "have to" play Iowa. Not the other way around. Iowa 7-0, Michigan is 5-2.

Iowa has a good QB, Michigan doesn't.

Bottom line, the media is dumb.

Nobody assumes Iowa would lose those three games. But they rightfully point out that we don't play three of the best teams; which is probably good for our won/loss record.

Sure, MSU is probably happy they're not playing Iowa. That doesn't mean we can't be happy we don't play MSU.

It’s not that the media is dumb, it’s that they are lazy. Actually putting in the effort and researching a story is a thing of the past. It’s much quicker and easier to write what you already know (or think you already know), and that is Michigan is better than Iowa.

Everyone said the same thing when Brady hoke went 11-2 and won the sugar bowl his first season. Was pulling in top recruits and had the fan base annointing him the second coming of fielding yost. I do believe harbaugh is a better coach but people need to get off his sack already.

I don't think the smart football people are assuming playing these schools would be losses. They are simply stating that Ohio State, Michigan State, Iowa, & Michigan are the top 4 teams and Iowa doesn't play any of the top B1G teams.

But Iowa will hopefully get to play one of those teams anyway, so all is good, don't really care what the national nay sayers have to say about it. Go Hawks!
