Schwab says it's time to put UNI and Iowa on the schedule

UNI had their media day today and former Hawk Doug Schwab made some comments that it's time for Iowa and UNI to get back on the schedule. It looks like Schwab kinda opened a can of worms he didn't mean to but just kinda rolled with it.

I love it. I would love a tri dual with Iowa State and Northern Iowa. Cool that Schwab is that eager for his boys to get their sh*t handed to them. N. Iowa is not in the same league with the Hawks and would struggle mightily against the Cyclones as well. I'm sure it's well documented but other than a little bit of sh*t talking when Ramos/McD and Joe Colon wrestled, but was their something else between Schwab and Brands?

I think they would be competitive with ISU in a dual.

We already know that since UNI wrestles ISU every year.

Slightly closer than I thought. I think Panthers could win 3 or 4 matches, however the Cyclones would rack up some bonus points. The Hawks would obviously absolutely decimate both of these squads.

Good stuff from Schwab. Thanks for posting. I think if Schwab wants to wrestle Iowa, he needs to just say "Brands give us a date and will come to CHA." even if it's for consecutive years.

From ISI a couple years ago the major issue seemed to be Brands not wanting UNI to host, wouldn't trade home and home just wanted to host them. I agree it would be cool to do a triangular, I mean high schoolers do them once or twice a week, almost goes along with the Storniolo mini tournament if you just held triangulars or quads especially for the meets where half the fieldhouse is empty

They picked up a nice recruit last year in Rudy Yates that should slide in nicely next year at 25.

There are elements of recruiting, exposure and promotion associated with wrestling SDSU in a home and home. That isn't true for a UNI series.

That said, I never saw the drawback to wrestling UNI--even in CF.

I agree completely, but that doesn't seem to be what the staff is looking for with this event.
