Scott Frost's Arrogance

Yeah not sold on the guy. Looks like at any moment he's going to start bawling biting that bottom lip and all. He may get that offense rollinh, but I don't think his D will ever have what it takes to shut down an opponent especially against the top dogs.

I find it hard to believe that Frost didn’t have undiciplined players at UCF. The major difference being that they were playing Florida International rather than Big Ten competition. Losing breeds frustration and frustration breeds stupid penalties. Stupid penalties mean more losses. It takes a very disciplined coach to break the cycle and so far, Frost has not been that.

Penalties could of been worst. I didn't watch much of the game but one of their defensive backs jumped over a tackle who had Blough wrapped up, grabbed this helmet and darn near twisted his neck/ripped off helmet with no call. Definitely a PF and a very thuggish play.

Speaking of penalties yesterday. Nebby radio folks (paraphrasing):

(Flag thrown for roughing the passer)

Radio guy 2: “there’s a flag in the backfield”

Radio guy 1: “If that is roughing the passer this is an absolute joke by the officials. This is terrible.”

Radio guy 2: “Only way it is a penalty is if (player name) hit him in the head”

Radio guy 1: “This has been a terribly called game”

Radio guy 2 upon seeing replay: “He did hit him in the head with his forearm.”

Radio guy 1: “First down Purdue at......

Wait a minute. I hate to toot my own horn but I was the one to dub him Scott Flop. Not some yahoo in Omaha or Ogalala!

In Lincoln, there is nothing but patience for the most part, not a bloodbath of recrimination or calls for a change or any number of narratives sourced from a hostile Iowa fan board. He’s got 5- minimum- years regardless of record.

This is, at best, a moderate exaggeration, at worst, total hogwash. I know the Nebby yahoos who troll this board don't represent the fan base as a whole, but even in the real world I've been hearing ridiculous expectations, and I have a hard time believing that the least patient fanbase in college football suddenly has a "this is going to take time" attitude.

I would say they have patience BUT they believe 90s domination glory is on the horizon.

There are a few trolls- nasty and negative posters on Twitter and other locations that call themselves fans but seem to take a measure of glee in our struggles.

For the most part, these fans are outnumbered on those same boards by people who understand the situation. It’s essential bleakness is not subject to hasty remediation and any such attempts would be extremely premature, expensive and likely to be drastically counterproductive. That sentiment, which is a form of honesty that begats patience, is widely shared. Riley got 3 years. Frost will get- must get- at least 5 no matter what.

For my part, I found the Purdue game to be quite... engaging. I’m from Iowa so I also watch those games closely.

But do you admit that I was the first to call him Scott Flop? I started calling him that the day he was hired. Look at my post history. I knew he was a loser the first time I heard him talk & saw how stupidly he wears his hat crookedly.

I’m calling BS on this. They don’t keep him around for five years without showing major improvement.

Living in Omaha I have seen a lot of frustration but also quite a bit of patience. But if you think he has 5 years regardless of record you are delusional. If next year is the same as this year the seat will be fiery hot. Blisteringly fiery hot.

Osborne wont allow that to happen IMO.

However, I do hope from Omaha to Ogallala, Scottsbluff to South Sioux City, Bellevue to Bridgeport, and Plattsmouth to Paxton they come to know him as Scott Flop!

Sure. Another payout- astronomical this time! Recycle AD’s again since Moos and Frost go together. Blow up recruiting and Frost’s recruits in one fell swoop. Enshrine us as an absolute, dysfunctional coaches graveyard. Make sure no one doubts that expectations will never match reality. No one will sign on to this, and no coach is going to roll into a toxic, can’t-win situation like that except one in their career twilight looking for a money grab and with a cagey agent.

Nebraska football needs continuity and faith from fans and media more than it could possibly use anything else. If the sellout streak needs to end, so be it. Let the program breathe a bit and the pressure to maintain that somewhat artificial construct fade for a time.

Perhaps the dynamics are a little different here in Lincoln than Omaha. I guess what I’m saying is that, sure, there will be screamers eager to make the situation worse with toxic pressure and a hasty move, but they won’t carry the day because it’s obviously a death trap for the program.

My history on this board will show my animosity towards your program. I sincerely hope you upset Wisconsin as does every other sane Hawkeye fan. Nebraska has athletes on their team. Your OL and DL need to improve and that takes time.

I'd take that bet. I do think he'll most likely get things going to some degree, but if he went through 3 to 4 years of this, he doesn't see year 5. Just IMHO of course.......

If the Cornholer cult wouldn't of spent the off season talking so much smack and pretty much over rating EVERYTHING Nebraska, other fan bases wouldn't be laughing at their current misery. What Frost did at Oregon/UCF was so over rated by Nebby and the media to get the fan base fired up! Here's your medicine when your arrogant chest thumping meets reality! Next week Frost should be 0-5 and owe'n 5 million $ to Nebraska!

Patience isn't something Nebraska fans are known for......KF only won one game his first year. If they want a successful coach, they are going to have to give him time.
And they are currently paying 2 if not 3 previous head coaches, & possibly some of their staffs!!

Maybe I’m missing something, but how would firing Frost and Moos change this?

It wouldn’t, so putting them on the hot seat is counterproductive.

Pelini and Riley, plus Riley’s staff. Pelini’s last payment is February 2019.

Decent takes so far, I agree that Nebraska has earned some of this but believe me- reality isn’t that hard to see right now
