Lol, I remembered this inquiry when I was putting this video of Brennan’s quarters match where the official blatantly seemed to have an anti-Iowa bias… I can put a few together! Any requests? I’d like to get a couple for guys that I haven’t done one for yet… like Costello, Rathjen, etc. However, the most material from that event will come from Schriever, Henson, Ayala, Costello, Brennan, Kennedy, etc. because they had the most matches. Brennans I’m for sure doing, but am open to do whoever’s you guys want to see..?
Meanwhile, here’s the vid I mentioned… for anyone who doesn’t believe that we have legitimate complaints about the anti-Iowa biases some officials clearly have, just show them this… unbelievable. Morningstar is the MAN! Pumped me up listening to him go to bat for Bren…
Here is one for Rathjen… There wasn’t much to work with, for he had to injury default out after his second match, but I figured it’s better than nothing… song choice was tricky because of the reel being so short, lol… ended up choosing one of my brother, Justin’s songs from his old Indy-rock band, Chasing Lions. Sorry if it’s a lil corny for a reel! Lol
Rathjen has a NICE low single… just needs to finish it because that Chittum kid kept catching him and stopping his momentum milliseconds before he’d turn the corner or cut across. I’d say, judging by how he did in limited time at the Scuffle, he does need to get a bit stronger as all Freshman generally do… I think when he gets stronger, it will allow him to implement that ultra-physical Iowa-style that he’s still learning. He also needs some fine-tuning on his finishes, as mentioned… Other than that, he needs to stay healthy and he’s RIGHT THERE, IMO. This kid is athletic AS HELL and I love his scrambling ability as well as his mat sense. You can tell that he is dangerous as hell. When he gets a guy in a compromising position, he’s like a shark that strikes the moment he smells blood and I love it.
Rathjen is not where he needs to be to be competitive at this level, YET… He will be, though. Every area that he seems to need improvement with is 100% correctable and he has the perfect coaches to help him get there. I am pretty excited to see what he can do if he is able to stay healthy. He’s fun to watch.
