SEC!!! SEC!!! SEC!!! SEC!!! SEC!!! SEC!!! SEC!!! SEC!!! SEC!!! SEC!!! SEC!!! SEC!!! SEC!!!

I'm going with Florida to win vs Wisconsin.

B1G was close but no cigar with Michigan and Wisconsin.

So Florida could get to the final four playing no seed lower than 5? 13, 5, 8, 7. Haven't they had a path like that before? And conceivably they could face an 11 in the final four. I wonder what the easiest path to final four has ever been?

16, 8/9, 12/13, then 7/8/10/11? Has anyone done that?
Or 15, 10, 6/11, 8/9/12?

I wonder how many have made it without playing at least a #4?

South Carolina.
Kentucky.
Florida.

All in the Elite 8.

They dominate in football.

Now, they dominate in basketball as well.

Next? Wrestling.

SEC is so overrated in football it's not even funny. How well do they do in bowl games? GTFO here with that BS. They finally have a decent year in bball and you call that dominating?

good points; Florida has definitely been lucky in the teams they have faced

Not sure this will lead to future domination, but it will likely make SEC fans even more insufferable for a whole.

Conversely, if SC wins they will have beaten 2,3,4. Not too shabby. Wonder if anyone has beaten 1,2,3 to reach final four? Would have to be a 6/7/10/11 seed

Good question. I'm pretty sure that the 1997 Arizona team remains the only team ever to beat three #1 seeds.

Outside of Kentucky and Florida, there aren't any real annual contenders in the SEC. Every few years someone will have a star player and be a third wheel in the conference... LSU, comes to mind... Vanderbilt is pesky but rarely a true threat to win the conference. I wouldn't expect long-term success from South Carolina.. flash in the pan 1-year wonders.

The SEC West doesn't give a flip about basketball for the most part... Alabama and Arkansas at times feign interest.. Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, half time time you barely even realize they have teams. In the East... Georgia, South Carolina, eh... Mizzou hasn't been good since they were in the Big12..

So yeah we can do the SEC circle-jerk... but really this isn't any different than any other year... Florida and Kentucky are good.. .and there's a sneaky third-wheel team... LSU, South Carolina, Arkansas, or Bama... this year its South Carolina.

1986 LSU as an 11 seed. Though Baton Rouge hosted their first two games.

  1. No. 6 Purdue (94-87)
    No. 3 Memphis (83-81)
    No. 2 Georgia Tech (70-64)
    No. 1 Kentucky (59-57)
2011 VCU, another 11 seed not too shabby...

  1. No. 11 USC (59-46) - playing game
    No. 6 Georgetown (74-56)
    No. 3 Purdue (94-76)
    No. 10 Florida State (72-71)
    No. 1 Kansas (71-61)
