The SEC west went 3 and four this opening weekend ,with LSU losing to Wisconsin in a game where their QB looked like a fireman scared of the fire and Ole Miss blowing a 28 to 6 lead on FSU, while allowing a RS freshman to accumulate over 400 yards .

Am I the only one tired of hearing the SEC west is an NFL league? Silly question I know, but when Alabama loses an early season game and still gets a pass to the playoff over another 1 loss team we'll hear how they earned it over time because the SEC west is so tough. Never thought I'd root on any SEC team but this year I hope Florida, Georgia, or Tennessee beats their tails in the title game.

Good luck to Tennessee. But then we did go to the Orangr Bowl after dodging UNI.

I wish Kirk would do a kickoff special against a big time program to raise our brands profile, but it wont happen. I'll take what we get and hopefully earn the respect by making the playoff and winning the whole darn thing. Beat Nebraska, Ohio State, Florida State and Alabama to cap off the season. Yes I went there.

I think Iowa Arkansas would be a fun series. Not just because of Bert but geographically going to either place wouldn't hurt recruiting and it's similar styles of play!

And Saban also got much better once he left the B1G.

and Michigan State got better after Saban left.

Michigan State Spartans (Big Ten Conference) (1995–1999)
1995 Michigan State 6–5–1 4–3–1 5th L Independence
1996 Michigan State 6–6 5–3 5th L Sun
1997 Michigan State 7–5 4–4 6th L Aloha
1998 Michigan State 6–6 4–4 6th
1999 Michigan State 9–2* 6–2 T–2nd Invited to Citrus* 9* 9*
Michigan State: 34–24–1 23–16–1 * Saban resigned before bowl game.

Not sure I'd bag on them for playing Wisconsin in Wisconsin or playing FSU, as well as playing USC, UCLA, and Clemson. I get Miss. St. losing to South Alabama and Arkansas beating La. Tech by 1 isn't great for them but the other 5 played tough teams especially compared to Iowa ooc schedule. And everyone knows besides ESecPN that the SEC is overrated.

It's not the fact that we don't give them credit for playing tough opening week games. The fact is we have to hear week in and week out how great that league is top to bottom, especially during that seven year run where 3 teams from the west and one team from tbe east won those titles.

Florida won in 06,08. LSU in 07 with 2 losses. Alabama in 09,11,12. Auburn in 10.

Impressive eh? Last year Ole Miss smoked Alabama, I mean Chad Kelly smoked that elite defense in Tuscaloosa and they fell 2 spots. The next week Ole Miss got smoked by a good not great Florida team and fell like 5 spots.

You do that in any league and you fall out of the top 10. In short I'm tired of Finebaum and all of the other talking heads waxing the sec's rear end with their tongues. Enough of my spewing hatred though, we got a Cyclone coming and it time to extinguish it.

SEC West defined:

Alabama is the car.
The rest of the teams are the:
pigs-in-a-blanket maker
citrus press
toaster over and
chocolate fountain.

I would enjoy playing a good team week 3, these "experts" put way to much on week 1 when at the end of the year people hardly remember week 1. I mean Texas going from like 40th to 11th after beating a overrated ND who was 10th AT HOME in overtime. Crazy overreaction.

Plus playing a team we should beat week 1 tells us what we need to work on and in the end seems like everyone forgets about week 1.

Plus KF teams always seem to play sloppy the first couple days and seem to start playing well after week 2 is over or a game or two after. I'd like a Arkansas or Notre Dame game week 3 right before conferance starts to get us ready for the Big Ten.

The whole SEC, SEC BS is just that. They've been riding Alabama's success for the last few years. Alabama is going to be in the title talk every year but the rest of those programs ??? Don't think so!

I wonder how many more years Saban will coach. He's in his 60's now and all of his children are grown up and he's gonna want to spend time with his 5 grandchildren one day. I hear he expects a 6th this year.

Maybe he wants to outpace the Bear, or make sure Urban can't catch him.

I don't know how many times this has to be posted, but, do people actually not understand the situation Saban walked into at MSU? He was lucky he could actually field a team his first season there...Plus having to deal with NCAA sanctions/probation/loss of schollies..

Bobby Williams made MSU better after Saban left? He lasted 3 seasons and had a losing record as the HC. How exactly did they get "better" in the Williams era?

5 years before Saban:
1994 (5-6)
1993 (6-6)
1992 (5-6)
1991 (3-8)
1990 (8-3-1)

5 years after Saban:
2000 (5-6)
2001 (7-5)
2002 (4-8)
2003 (8-5)
2004 (5-7)

the Sanctions were 2 lost Scholarships for 1995 and 7 lost for 1996... meaning, he could only sign 18 Scholarship players... rather than the usual 25.

I report, you decide.

What was Bobby Williams record as HC? How is that "better" than what Saban produced while dealing with NCAA issues? They did not get better under Williams...that's the point. There is a reason he was fired after only 3 years as Saban's replacement.. Also included in those sanctions was a re-tooling of the classes the players could take at MSU...that led to alot of attrition from the time Saban started...Perles was gassed for a reason..

I don't know ... but my point is... Michigan State is better now.. then what they were with Saban... ~thanks

In a couple of weeks the talking heads will consider NDs loss at Texas a win.

I'm startin to wonder about these rankings...
is it just me, or do they heavily favor SEC teams?
It's been tbis way for well over a decade. It justifies the SEC when they lose to each other. That way they can claim the conference cannabilizes itself ( they're the only one). For a true playoff , it has to go to 8. Four playoff games, with 5 automatic conference champions and 3 wild cards.

Last year the playoffs would go like this. Rose Bowl: Stanford vs Iowa= Stanford advances. Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State vs Notre Dame= Ohio State advances. Orange Bowl: Clemson vs Oklahoma= Clemson advances. Cotton Bowl: Alabama vs Michigan State= Alabama advances.

Semifinal #1 Stanford vs Alabama

Semifinal #2 Ohio State vs Clemson

I would have liked to see a hot Stanford team go against Alabama. Ohio State destroyed Michigan and Notre Dame, finally playing up to their potential. J.T Barrett vs Watson, I'm in for that one.

I would be ok with that scenario... except I don't believe Notre Dame deserves to be in the Playoffs under any scenario... not until they join a Conference...

but what I would like to see is the abolishment of the Big12...
the other 4 Power Conferences expanding to 16 teams....
and the Conference Champions playing in a 4 team Championship Playoff.

Notre Dame and Texas should form the D-League. They can play each other every week and each claim a championship every other year. In their eyes they are the Sun, and everybody else is an orbiting planet.
