What happened was the conservatives wanted it named after the confederate slave owner so they tried to work around it and found some random guy with the same last name and just claimed they were naming it after him instead.
It's not like Roland Bragg would have even been considered if it had not been for having the same last name as the slave owner.
Dude won a silver star which is great but it's not an MOH and there are thousands of MOH winners you could have named it for. But none of their last names matched the confederate slave owner's.
Biden admin renamed it to Fort Liberty because it was previously named after a confederate slave owner.
Trump admin found some random private in WW2 who had the same last name and got a silver star and claimed they were naming it after him.

the us military is made up of millions of people, administers a budget of hundreds of billions of dollars, and manages assets worth trillions. it is ALWAYS going to a bureaucracy, whether the fox news guy wants that to be part of the job or not
