Seriously, do we get a bowl?

I think 5-7 is our best shot, assuming 5-7 teams are eligible again this year. Although I can't imagine Iowa fans will travel at all in that scenario given what pre-season expectations were. Anything can happen, but I'm having trouble seeing three more wins on the schedule.

Looking at the remaining schedule, I see 6-6 at best. Hopefully we can turn it around and pull off some upsets, though, I just don't see it.

I think it's possible we get two more wins and a bowl takes us at 5-7. That's the only chance I see the way we are playing.

They have been playing like shit, but there is no reason to think 5 wins is the best they can do this year!
Unless the lines grow a pair, they have no chance at winning the west. but to think 5 wins is the max this year....cmon now!

I seriously have doubts, I do not see on game where I would call a W right now.

@Minny (tough L)
@purdue (Maybe this game, but ya never know)
Wisky (gonna get woodshedded in this one)
@ PSU (Maybe could sneak out a W, but doubt it)
MICH (Worst loss at home possibly 45-0
@ ILLINI (They are tougher than they look)
NEBBIE (Maybe this one, but doubt it).

I Seriously see maybe 1-2 games where we will win. I am sure with this season we will be something like .500 and then beat someone we have no reason beating. Then we will sneak into a 6-6 bowl. KF will get a 20yr extension and Gary Barta will be passing out free concession stand vouchers to all return season tix holders. FML!

Gonna be funny seeing how the Athletic Dept. goes into next season after what looks like a big disappointment this year.

I think the voucher thingy is an absolute probability.

What a shitstorm we have right now!

I don't know why this fan base would go to a bowl game when it couldn't even fill up the stadium for home coming after a twelve win season. This tells me we are at a sad point as a fan base.

It would have been full if we didn't lose to an FCS team (albeit a great one) in the last home game.

Because we are a fake program. When we start playing real football with real energy and intensity the fans will show up. When we put out that crappy product and show zero sense of urgency with the season hanging in the balance people stop coming real fast my friend.

It depends on if we show up to said bowl game. A bowl game can be a nice way to build momentum with a win

Before today I thought 6-6 and a minor bowl. Now, I think we are no better than a 30% chance of making it.

Why would you expect over 70,000 people to show up for Homecoming, many of them driving multiple hours in the early hours of a dreary Saturday morning, to support a team that LOST TO AN FCS TEAM and BARELY BEATING RUTGERS. Give me a break! Maybe this fan base is finally sending a message that this kind of performance is UNACCEPTABLE!

It sounds like there were c. 60,000 at the game and that sounds about right for an Iowa team that's playing so poorly.

Because they are Hawk fans just like we were during the loosing seasons. If the fans would have felt like the fans do now Iowa wouldn't have a football program today.

We'all qualify for one, but we should decline any invitation offered to us.

5 win teams ARE eligible. But only if there are not enough winning teams to fill the bowl slots. After that, the 5 win teams are chosen according to their academic ratings, which Nebraska went through last year to get a bowl.

I have no idea how Iowa might fare if academics are involved when trying to get a bowl game.

Hard to believe, Iowa hasn't won a Bowl in 6 years. January 2017 could be worse than January 2015 when Barta and Ferentz were finally feeling some serious heat. Another Taxslayer Bowl and being humiliated for the second year in a Bowl game, I bet would snap the patience of many a Hawk fan. It would bring out another one of those sickening speeches from Barta.

The Hawks should beat Purdue and Illinois, get another win over Minnesota or Penn State, and get embarrassed in a lousy bowl. Ferentz will get his bonus and the mediocrity will continue.
