Set right off edge of bench yesterday

Yes, I think I agree. But his B1G record at Iowa in his 1st 6 years were:
7-11
9-9
12-6
5-13
13-5
10-8

For a total of 56 wins. Fran has 54. (BTW, Davis had 59 w's in his first 6 years, Alford 41)

I can't find the individual games to see how Lute did in close games.

I think Lute was better, but maybe not by a lot.

If Fran could achieve what Lute did at Arizona after he left Iowa I would feel more than happy. That still seems remarkable given what Lute walked into there. I like Fran better as a person as Lute seemed self-absorbed. Fran will win his share of games over time and at times give us some really enjoyable basketball. I just don't see him taking us to any greater heights as he doesn't seem cut out for that at this level but you never know he may prove me wrong.

So, you got Coach K, Izzo, Roy Williams, Pitino, Calipari I guess that are big time (ugh), then I suppose some guys like Thad Matta, the guy at Gonzaga maybe -I know I'm missing several guys -then you have about 100 guys that have ups and downs. Are you thinking Fran is not in the group with 100?

First post in this exchange that I haven't made much sense of. Not saying at all that we need a big name here. I just don't see Fran taking us to the next level as I think back in the day Lute would have if he hadn't grown tired of the fish bowl and wanted out.

Sorry - I continue to agree Lute was better. I just don't know where Iowa gets the next one.
