I dont know what Maryland has for a passing game but it might be weak. Playing bump and run, close coverage at the snap might give the defensive line another second to get to the qb.
I thought the pass rush made the ucla qb scramble a fair amount and toss about 6 passes into the stands.
Playing tight coverage at the snap may let the front 6 or 7 concentrate on stopping the run also by looking run first but then pass rush and drop Lbkrs after play recognition.
It is something the defense doesnt do that much of and it could surprise the terps and maybe it could lead to some better initial pass coverage as those DBacks can solely lock on to their receiver vs playing zone.
