Only the playoffs will be known then. The rest of the New Years Six will be announced at 2 PM.

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee will announce the playoff semifinal pairings and site assignments live on ESPN at 12:30 p.m. ET. At 3 p.m. ET, the College Football Playoff Selection Committee will announce the final top 25 rankings of the season. In addition, the pairings for the Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and Peach Bowl will be announced.

The College Football Playoff Selection Day presented by AT&T – airing Sunday, December 6, from Noon-4 p.m. ET – will feature the announcement of the teams participating in the two Playoff Semifinals – the Capital One Orange Bowl and the Goodyear Cotton Bowl – at approximately 12:30 p.m., as well as extensive analysis and discussion. Additionally, teams selected for the other four New Year’s Six bowls (Allstate Sugar Bowl, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual, Fiesta Bowl) and the final Top 25 rankings will be announced close to 3 p.m.
I'm not saying that is 100%, just what I heard. And Iowa will find out how good Houston really is.
Unless Houston somehow miraculously makes the Rose Bowl I don't see how we will find out how good they are. Even the Fiesta I think we'd be playing ND... no chance of Houston in there either.
Hard to say right now as deals between the bowls will be in the works. Right now the favorites for the Rose Bowl are OSU and Stanford but that could change if the Fiesta gets their way with an OSU-ND clash which would probably result in HUGE TV ratings not to mention how well they travel, especially OSU. Who knows ?

No idea how you came up with that? Just your feeling on this, as almost every sign is pointing towards Iowa definitely staying ahead of OSU and getting the Rose. #5/#6 will be Iowa/Stanford or Stanford/Iowa. Book it
One thing 2002 and 2009 taught me when trying to make plans in advance from what I heard is that whatever we think we know right now is probably 100% wrong.
Alright so lets take your little "source" as being accurate... and lets say tOSU goes to the Rose. I don't see Houston getting snapped up by the Fiesta (which is where Iowa would fall should the Rose not take them).... so please again tell us how we will find out how good Houston is unless we're watching them on TV.
The key to Iowa's bowl is where OSU lands. Right now, OSU is the favorite for the Rose due to their name, huge TV draw, and massive fan following. They have a ton of alumni in California. If, however, the Fiesta gets their way with an OSU - ND matchup, the Hawks are playing Stanford in the Rose making both of those games very attractive. I'd have to go with the BIG in both of those games.

A well connected employee at the university? I don't care who they are, Barta doesn't know where the chips are right now. And think in this smart guy, who would risk their well connected job to tell you inside information? Which you quickly shared with the world. Assuming this well connected person does know something how difficult would it be for those in the know to trace a leak?

The key word there is playoff and yes, it did somewhat put a better setup for the National Championship. The other bowls like the Rose and Fiesta are out to do what's best for them and yes, a lot of it is political. Nothing to to with the 4-team playoff. Unfortunately, both bowls are side shows behind the playoffs.
