SIAP- Alcohol Sales in Lucas Oil?

Rumor has it that there is no beer sales except in club lounges??

Seems strange to me. Why wouldn't they sell it, its an NFL stadium.

When I went to the final four at the superdome, I was shocked there were no beer sales.....oh well.....buzz kill

I'm assuming it's up to the schools? Minnesota didn't sell beer just because it was in an NFL stadium, any college stadium can sell beer if they want to, they just choose not to. This is what I've been told at least.

Wow I realize they don't want to, but its going to be extra $$ coming in. I think most fans are responsible and could handle it. I mean I know going to a Bears game a few years ago, they only allowed you like 3 beers and then you were cut off. They also stopped selling at the start of the 4th quarter I do believe.

They sold beer last year in the Bowl Game?

How would they limit how many beers you can buy? I've never heard of that. How could they even tell how many a person has bought throughout the game?

They only limit how many beers you purchase at a time. It's pretty common in venues in order to keep people from buying for minors.

I believe any championship event they do not sell alcohol. Atleast not on the main level atleast this has been the case the past 8 years I have gone to NCAA wrestling nationals and all of those arenas except Des Moines were in arenas where a professional team plays

No, pretty sure they don't. A Google search says no and I've been to the Big 12 bball tourney in KC at the Sprint Center and there were no alcohol sales there. I was also at the NCAA bball tourney games in STL recently and no booze there either. I know this is a different sport but I still don't think there will be booze.

I went to Houston for the ncaa great 8 game this past year and they didn't have beer. It is a disappointment for sure.

I'm disappointed and yet grateful for the three to four hours of forced sobriety before Hawk fans are unleashed upon downtown Indianapolis to celebrate. I'll save AA for Sunday as I'm swearing to never drink again.

That is really suprising all these other events don't have booze. I always thought it was based on the stadium and they must have beer for Colts games right?

I drank at the Capital One bowl years ago... Not sure why the rules would be different here.

Was at 1st Big Ten Title game, when WI dropped 80 on Neb or whatever it was, anyway, no beer was being sold.

No beer is ever sold other than club seats at the Big 10 basketball tournament. Not surprising it wouldn't be sold here.

Looks like its Flask night at Lucas Oil Stadium. I can guarantee there will be tons of people sneaking it in.

I could care less Ill have a good buzz going heading in and could use a break, if we win Im going all out in Indy. Hell if we lose Im going all out in Indy.

I was stunned when Iowa played in NIT at Madison Square Garden and NO BEER. Was a shocker to think and see all the beer kiosks and taps covered up.

Are you people really unable to enjoy a football game unless you're buzzed?

Is it that you really don't like the sport or that you have a dependency problem?

Wow. These things aren't mutually exclusive. A guy can enjoy having some beers and watching football without having a "problem."

If watching football and drinking beer isn't appropriate, when exactly is it appropriate to have some beers?

Ping your tailgate crowd is over on the Nebraska board these days!

Take it slow at first.

Holy crap....pretty big leap there. Who doesn't like to have a beer while they watch football?

Me. But that's just because I've never acquired a taste for beer (and had a bad experience while in college). However, I can and will imbibe other beverages at times. I have no objection to those that drink before, during, and after football games. I just hope that these folks maintain some semblance of good judgment.

Head Hawk and some rookie named hansi I guess.

They both sound like they'd be fun to party with - not.
Yes, the perpetually single 50 year old is probably the one that would be fun to party with!
It's pretty sad that at an event of this magnitude, the focus is on whether or not Iowa fans can get drunk or not. I am sure you won't get the shakes from not drinking for 4 hours during the biggest Iowa football game in history.

I agree that they are not mutually exclusive. Drinking and watching football is not inappropriate. BUT...if not having beer ruins your experience and you're upset about it days in advance, I think that's the definition of having a problem.

Those that do plan on having a good time, taking in the atmosphere, and drinking while tailgating like any normal person usually does. Just remember to not break the seal early, otherwise it's going to be a long game of going to the bathroom every 15-20 minutes. I'd be more concerned in finding out if the restroom lines have access to a view of the game.

Wait, are you really criticizing somebody for asking if the stadium will sell alcohol? Look around, we have a million different threads talking about the game. We can't talk about the experience? Nobody said having the stadium not serve alcohol would diminish the experience in any way, it just would be a lot more fun if they had.

I understand that alcohol might not make the game more fun for you, and I get that. But don't criticize other people's questions based on your own beliefs.

I'm not talking about the OP or the vast majority of posters in this thread who simply asked or replied. Just those who are freaking out at the absence, which has only been a few ppl.
