These are unprecedented times for Iowa basketball, which is roundly viewed as a favorite to win the national championship behind the unanimous POY in Garza.

A note to everyone who reads this: YOU CAN DO YOUR PART.

Only thing standing between an historic Iowa basketball season and a good one is clarity around COVID-19's impact on collegiate sports.

Be a man. Wear a mask. Help America get this pandemic under control. Don't care which political party you support. It's common sense. So do the right thing.

Most people are wearing masks, its still spreading. Do your part by staying home until December, and turn tour phone, TV and internet off. Your stress levels will drop dramatically. You'll thank me later.

I'd argue that maybe a majority are wearing masks if you use 51% as your cutoff. I'd also say that "it's still spreading" was going to happen, just hopefully at a slower pace. This all or nothing line of thinking drives me nuts. If that's not what you meant I apologise, but many people do believe that. Masks aren't the cure. But they can definitely help. Man or woman up for a short while and help everyone by wearing a damn mask.

I do. Everywhere I go people are wearing masks, you are in the minority if not wearing a mask. It's still spreading.

Masks will not stop the virus. What they will do is limit its impact so fewer people will get it and fewer people will die and we can all go back to relatively normal lives--including actually attending sports events--sooner. It's a simple concept that millions of Americans refuse to accept. But that's what happens when you're a brainwashed member of a cult. The trouble is, those cult members are jeopardizing not only sports but all of our lives.

Depends on where you go. I go out shopping every two weeks or so and the majority of the people I see in the stores are wearing masks. When I'm out walking, not so much. I see now that Walmart has declared that they are not going to try and enforce their mask rules, which I understand. You can't put some low level, underpaid kid at the door to enforce the rule, especially when some selfish individuals are adamant that wearing a mask somehow infringes on their constitutional rights, public health be damned. This pandemic is going to be with us for awhile.

If I were a store owner I would offer free masks at the door. I would then raise my prices 10% and offer a 10% discount to those wearing their masks.

Had Bar owners posted info about the importance of wearing masks, then insisted patrons social distance, the Curve could have been flattened significantly. Standing or sitting in a packed Bar is one of riskiest activities on U of Texas Medicals risk list for this crap.

I do DSD vendor sales to several accounts in KC including Walmart, Target, and Costco. I can tell you that every store and even conveinience stores like QT and Casey's require masks. AT Walmart they have a KC police man on property and security at the door, and you don't enter with out a face covering. Its been weeks since I've seen anyone in one of my stores without a mask. Now some people don't always wear them properly. See more then a few folks including some employees wearing them over their mouth, and not the nose. Still its been a significant change in the last few weeks.

So you’d be willing to make less money if people wore a mask?

I wish Hy-Vee did that.

I just wish Hy-Vee required customers to wear masks. You would think that Iowa's largest chain of grocery stores in Iowa would take the lead on this health issue. I hope this decision is not based on political alliances, but it wouldn't surprise me. Gambling with Americans' health during this pandemic seems to be the norm now, rather than the exception.

Lol, they wouldn’t wear masks in bars. They should have remained closed.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but every time I open my Chrome browser on my phone, this website opens up and takes me to this thread/post specifically (yes I know I’m weird for using Chrome on my phone instead of Safari). Even when I close all tabs and exit the browser, it happens when I open it back up. Has anybody else had this happen to them, and, if so, is there a solution? I’m about to clear the cache and erase cookies, but would prefer not to if possible. TIA

Yeah great.....hindsight is always 20/20. Most people a couple months ago were glad to see Restaurants & Bars reopen, in Iowa. Smart proprietors take extra precaution and some did not. All bars, especially the meat market, college bar types, COULD have posted a Warning sign, then explained and enforced social distancing, used outdoor seating only, instead of the typical BoozeHound folks running everything.

I wish Hy-Vee did that.

How many employees at Hy-Vee have you seen:
-going down the one-way aisles the wrong way as they fill to go orders
-wearing mask but having it pulled off their nose (guess they don't get the science of a respiratory illness.
-I went through the self-checkout (newer ones with long belt that can divide in two directions) to avoid someone else handling my product, only to look after paying to see an friendly employee bagging my groceries in the self-serve aisle...well meaning of course.
-the majority of those patrons I see at the supermarket are wearing masks, but a large percentage still aren't

Ok?

They started last week from what I heard.
