Akrum was high steppin' early and often, did young Ferentz get in his ear? Also noticed the dollar bill shuffle on the 2nd or 3rd TD, myself, I don't care as long as he keeps running like that but don't want a flag.
Both he and Daniels look faster, wow.

Yep, he broke out the 'bow' and 'feed me more' at NW last year, refs were close to flagging him. Man does he have some crazy good feet and ability to 'run skinny', not really an Iowa comparison I can't think of right now.

Fred Russel is one back comes to mind with the ability to stop on a dime and juke out a defender and make the cuts the way he does.

on the 2nd Touchdown, I thought Wadley's high step was precautionary because of the Defender in the End Zone...

if the Defender breaks one way, Wadley gives himself the opportunity to move the other way.

I'm not sure I agree with the criticism of Wadley on this particular play.

Post game highlights on the news showed clip of Wadley talking about this play. Said Brian Ferentz wasn't pleased with him doing it once he made it to the sideline and just laughed about it saying next time he'll make sure he gets to the end zone before he does (something to that extent). But pretty obvious he was just being a little cocky running which is no big deal to me when he ran like that before he made the endzone, not seeing how that was helpful against any defender.

Plus he did the same thing going in for his 2nd td in the 2nd qtr.

In this sec you can practically kill
Someone and they don't throw celebration flags.. Big Ten is soft

Great points, yes, the Russel is a good one. Actually Freddy would do that high step to try to fake out defenders and/or cut back, agreed. What do they call the play where they fake to the FB one way and give to Akrum the other? Love this misdirection especially with a speed guy.

not sure I see what you see..

On the 2nd TD you can see he started to do a little subtle high step, but then stopped after 1-2 steps probably because he thought better of it.

Honestly, as long as he doesn't get penalized or drop the ball at the 3 yard line prepping for a celebration, just keep scoring and I don't care.

should that be a penalty for what he did on the 2nd Touchdown Run?

Nope, I have no problem with it and actually chuckled when I saw it live. I had no problem with the high step on the first either, he can high step to as a many TDs as he wants (hopefully there will be a lot). Just as long as he doesn't botch it like Cook from FSU last night.

If Wadley can average 100 rushing yards per game,
then we will talk about his attitude.

How were the refs close to flagging him? Guys are constantly doing things like that and they never, ever get flagged.

Said the exact same thing early in the 1st quarter. N

The run that comes to mind is he was close to the goal line, spun from initial contact right into defenders. I can easily see an inadvertent helmet to helmet collision ringing his bell. I am ok with the spin out in space, but he needs to recognize an area of multiple closing defenders to protect himself.

He has a running style that reminds me of Ronnie Harmon with his quick cuts and speed, just hope the fumbling does not return. I did think the high steppin' was a little too "cute"

I don't think celebration before the completion of the play should ever be a penalty. How many times have we seen a guy foolishly start celebrating early then get the ball knocked out of their hand? That is penalty enough as far as I'm concerned.

why are some fans so hyper critical of Wadley? He's become a reliable standout player for Iowa. 10.1 yards a carry? 2 TD's on 12 rushes and another rush he got pushed out at the 4.

Just because KF has his fabricated excuses why guys don't get PT doesn't mean we as fans need to mimic his behavior.

Knock it off, it's annoying.

Great article on Wadley from before last Saturday's game:

http://www.blackheartgoldpants.com/2016/8/22/12578956/akrum-wadleys-role-iowa-football-offense

"Now, on to the part I enjoy the most — the explanation. With Wadley, you’re not only talking about a serious playmaking threat with the ability to take it to the house on any given play, but you’re also talking about a guy who, given his traits, could without question go down as one of the more talented running backs of the Kirk Ferentz era. Wadley’s mixture of burst, speed, footwork, lateral quickness, and nuance is something that the Hawkeyes haven’t had in their backfield in quite some time. You would have to go back nearly a decade just to find another Hawkeye running back with a similar skill set."

For the record, I love Akrum, was just curious if there was any backlash against potential celebrations. You see this all over college football, I guess we just aren't used to this at Iowa! :) He's got a little Freddie Russell, Jermelle Lewis and Sed Shaw in him.

Greene was a different kind of runner. Even his spin moves were power-based.

What fabricated excuses? I thought he got plenty of PT on Saturday.
