Significance of This Win

Michigan didn't look that great, but they might put it together by end of season. This was big win....Iowa can improve. hopefully 9 wins in B1G.

What do you mean - Michigan shot lights out from the 3 and that Wilson guy had a career day.

Michigan looked great the 2nd half hawklogic and are probably a 8-10 seed in the tourney. If we beat Nebraska our RPi should be in the top 100 which is what we need but we gotta guard the 3 better, and rebound cook was great and Baer on the boards but pemyl needs to step up now b10 has started.

Nonconferance and B10 is different.

Williams and uhl if they just don't play we are better and we got so much depth we will win more without them.

How many 3s did Michigan have and that guy had a career high in 3s and points at halftime if he was just average we win by 20.

Exactly, they had to have a guy go off for a career game to be in it. By definition, the guy with the career game doesn't do that normally.

Winning is better than losing for certain.

Didn't play great but winning down the stretch is one of those steps they need to experience to improve. What you learn as a team every game is just as important as the result.

On to the next game...

A lot of those 3s were against our zone which is awful. Stick to man D and quit giving up those wide open 3s.

People who claim we're a one man team are just flat out wrong. Bohannon, Cook, Pemsl, Baer all came up huge down the stretch. Moss to me is on the verge of taking another step and Brady has played confidently all year.

This was a great basketball game and props to Michigan for pushing our team. I still maintain that there is tournament potential in this team. Games like this are a start and can become contagious.

There's still more than enough games on the schedule where this team COULD (but not should) win like today. Like home games against Purdue, OSU and Maryland. There's certainly several almost inevitable losses (@sparty, Wisconsin and Maryland) but I still wouldn't rule out the possibility of 11-7 if they can hit the 6 foot par putts (Rutgers, NW, Illinois etc). That gives us a chance for win 20 at the BTT. Let the chips fall where they may with RPI but it seems like the SOS should be pretty solid. Obviously we've choked the last 3 years there but we pooped away the last 3 Iowa State games too.

Pemsl had his first off-shooting day, but I thought his defense was terrific. Three blocks, I think. But Bohannon, Cook and Baer, and of course Jok, really played well.

Pemsl had a learning game in protecting the ball vs athletic teams.

Yep. Pemsl missed more chip shots today than he had all year.

We start 4 freshman. It will show at times. We are getting glimpses that show potential, and with Jok we will win some.

We are going have struggles this year and we won't automatically be good next year either. There's still a lot of potential and they are fun to watch.

The significance of this game will be seen in the next game. The boys now know they can win in conference. Hopefully they will be much more competitive out of the gate than the Purdue debacle.

The boys played well in the closing minutes, something the last generation struggled to do as they wound down even their senior season. This group looks like they won't choke so many times. The freshman point guard is shooting 86% from the line and he's shown he can hit with the game on the line.

Gotta say Ellingson really does get just blown away on one or two plays but generally plays sufficient defense to earn floor time with his offensive skills.

The most important thing as a team was showing the ability to keep fighting for the win and actually getting it when the game could just as easily have gone scUM's way.

The game had a lot of what you'd guess with this team. Some great offensive play, Jok knocking down daggers, poor defense(especially at the 3), not blocking out, mental lapses. Just the sort of up and down, fast paced, erratic game that's aggravating/fun/forehead slapping throughout.

High marks for entertainment value.

I don't think this team of ours wants to just get better for next year.

In the UM game, i didn't have any of those, "what are you doing!?" moments.

They're still erratic, but they're getting better and more steady.

I believe we are still making too many defensive mistakes, just due to communication and inexperience issues. I would guess that just by correcting those mistakes in the Michigan game we win in regulation by 8 points or so.

With Michigan you may want to run them off the 3 point line....which Brady did on 2 occasions.

With their size on the shooters closeouts with hand high will not prevent an open look from 3.

i like these guys, but 7-11 seems more likely than 11-7. Hard for young teams to compete without NBA lottery picks in starting 5.
