SNL - is it funnier for you when the actors and guest hosts break during skits?

It means more when it is rare. In 8 years Phil Hartman almost never broke. And that made this hilarious. (TikTok sucks but I couldn’t find another source in the amount of time I was willing to invest looking)

This. When the cast members are professional it’s different.

Heidi breaking after like eight seasons was another example. Mikey also spiked her.

Then there are flubs, screwups, and improved/never seen lines. Those are all funny as well.

I enjoy it as long as they arn't always doing it.

One thing I learned from TV shows and movies is that actors in comedy sets will often cover their mouth to cover up a grin or something they have when they are breaking.

Early cast members never broke but Fallon does.
McKinnon as the alien victim is hilarious.
The first cast also memorized their lines. I recently rewatched my favorites from the first few seasons. It’s very clear watching.

The Fallon/Sanz era was the low point in professionalism. I don’t know why Lorne gave them a pass. He clearly has a soft spot for Jimmy.
