So Fran learned something vs. MSU?

Bench scored 39 against MSU and played way better D with reserves in. Many on here slammed me for saying Fran wouldn't change a thing and would go right back to the status quo. 2-3 minutes of Joe T., no Perkins or Ulis until 1:00 minute and Connor on the court when Iowa desperately needs someone capable of scoring. I would take Ash over him in that situation, but Fran "knows what he's doing". Hell, Fran actually went backwards not forwards with the reserves after MSU.

Complete egomaniacal idiocy on display tonight from Fran.

to me that speaks volumes. A good coach shouldn’t be saying this after the game. Inexcusable. Or least has one of his assistants in his ear letting him know this. But fran has a garbage staff that brings nothing to the table.

I usually like a lot of your stuff 83 but I actually disagree here . I actually think he will start next season. Once Fran’s bromance w JBO is over
I hope you are right. I really do. But unless he starts getting more PT down the stretch, I’m afraid he is just going to say “the heck with it” and go somewhere he’ll be appreciated.

He is an offensive minded coach and it lost us the game tonight. If someone has made a few threes, they will be on the court. Never mind getting stops when needed.
If he’s an offensive minded coach, why does he play Connor? Connor shouldn’t be playing at all, but they can survive when CJ’s healthy and the other team doesn’t have 3 or 4 shooters.

I hear what you’re sayin for sure .
I hope he sticks it out. I just get the sense he’s so close to it all coming together for him...

Fair question. Why do Perkins and JT not get in until the end? What would a young player like Perkins be thinking when he plays great D a few nights ago, and gets rewarded with riding the pine.....with Frederick out?

Why would those guys stick around? If you can’t see that they bring value to the court, then you have blinders on. Fran clearly doesn’t have confidence in them.

Well at least he admitted that in retrospect he should have played Joe T. and Perkins more. Glad we have 100 years of combined coaching experience on the bench.

My guess is it is Fran's way or the highway. The assistants have to be "yes" men to coexist.

My recollection is we were trailing for at least the last 5 -7 minutes. I don't think anyone other than Fran would have put Connor out there when the team was trailing and needed stops. Playing JBO while trailing is also questionable.

I don't have an issue with playing Jbo late the way he was shooting but having Jbo and Connor handle the ball when you need a drive and score or drive and kick makes no sense. Minimally put Joe T. out there and ideally put Perkins and or Ulis and go full on with the pressure and have guys capable of making plays. Nope, we are going to do dribble hand offs and look like a comedy act.

Yeah, if Perks, Ulis, JoeT transferred.. then time to pull plug on Fran.
There is enough need for better defense from the guards that all three of those guys should be playing.
These guys signed knowing full well what they were getting themselves into and who was on the court ahead of them. None are on the cusp of being
All-Americans if they just played somewhere else. C'mon now.

Wait till those same kids transfer out because of Fran playing his own kids over them when they are not the better players!!!

I would play Joe T, Perkins, and Ukis all ahead of Connor. I’m sure the “great entry passes” guys will come at me but outside of that he brings absolutely nothing to the table. I’d rather have defensive players who can also make something happen off the dribble on the floor.

Have to admit I was surprised we didn't see significant second half minutes for Toussaint, Perkins and Ulis,.. I think a change in line up along those lines could have hampered Ohio State's offense...

No shi_ Dick Tracy.

The answer is ...

We went from Lick no offense to other extreme of Frans denial to make the team better on D. No way starting Connor or giving him major minutes gives this team the best chance to win.
