This is a game we need to win. They are young and while they have talent their defense is very suspect and they play like young kids. We should win this by 15
I don't think this is a game we "need" to win..its a game that we could win but 15 seems a little high considering it is on their floor and this is the 1st road game of the year.
I'd like to know who these better players are that Woody has held his own against. Maybe you haven't seen Ellenson play yet. He looks pretty damn good to me. He seems to be able to play anywhere on the court. I'm not sure Woody will be guarding him though. He's not their center so I expect it to be a combination of Uthoff/Uhl/Wagner. Woody will have his hands full with Fischer. I'm thinking a zone might be the best idea for Iowa.Exactly, a freshman 3 games in. Not in the least worried about Woody on D. Hes already proved he can hold his own against better players than this.
Sounds like it is good that we are playing Marquette early in the season. Freshman make lots of mistakes. Should be a tough road test, but I like our chances against an inexperienced team with only a couple of games against second-tier teams under their belts. Can't say what's going to happen down the road for Marquette but we can certainly beat this team on Thursday night. This gives Fran a chance to practice how to attack that UM zone because their man to man really sucked. and we match up a hell of a lot better than IUPUI. But it is BB so you never know how the ball is going to bounce or how teams will play?
I'd like to run up and down the floor and see if Ellenson and Fisher can stay up with a very fast pace. Fisher hardly came out of the game and IUPUI missed a TON of 3s tonight.
Looking forward to Thursday night.....
November basketball is always a crapshoot. I won't be surprised if Iowa wins or loses and if the score is close or lopsided. It would however be a nice win to get. I bet Marquette ends up being a pretty good team by February and in the NCAA tournament resume building aspect of it this might end up being a "good win" especially since it's on the road.
In regards to previous comments about Woody-his defense is the least of my concerns. He can handle the 5* freshman. That is the strength he brings to the table. On offense I would take him passing every time he gets the ball except on uncontested layups. Missing a 2 footer 50% of the time is the frustrating aspect of his game-I like everything else.
I didn't see the game, but getting 29 FTs to 10, and still needed OT to win. Maybe deserved, or maybe a little home cooking for Wojo's boys.

with Jok back it will be interesting to see if Uhl starts & for who
IUPUI shot a ton of 3's so they weren't in position to get fouled much.I didn't see the game, but getting 29 FTs to 10, and still needed OT to win. Maybe deserved, or maybe a little home cooking for Wojo's boys.

Woody will likely not even guard Ellenson, he will match up on Fischer. Woody defensively is not a problem almost ever. But it is fun to try to pile on.Ellenson is a Top 5 pick. It could get ugly for Woody
