So many overreactions

I suppose there are many ways to overreact to being out-gained by more than 200 yards on the ground against an FCS team when dominating the LOS is your bread and butter, but posting on an Internet message board isn't one of them.

And calling for everyone's head is, well, dumb.

It is one game against a pretty good team. Let's wait and see.

Search #FireFerentz on twitter and enjoy.

Seriously people, we lost one game. Settle down. The sun will come up tomorrow. I appreciate the passion, but it gives our fan base a black eye when we respond this irrationally.

We are so sorry. We forgot this staff is above any criticism
The staff definitely deserves some criticism and probably got more credit than it deserved over the last year, but I'm speaking more along the lines of things like Doyle needing to quit. A one game sample is hilarious to come to that conclusion.

I haven't really read much of the board after the game, so I can't really comment on the overreactions, but I will say NDSU is simply a better team than the Hawkeyes. Hopefully they're better than all the teams left on our schedule, but I kind of doubt it. I do think they could probably beat 3 or 4 of them, but unfortunately we have 9 left. Guess that puts us at about 7-5, maybe 8-4.

There are some over reactions, but the thing that is frustrating people is we have seen this script play out before too many times.

I hate to say if, KF is a book and you can tell the ending well before the season is over:

If Iowa is rated in the top 25 preseason, we will lose to an "inferior" team in the non-conf. We will not meet expectations during the year.

If Iowa is unranked, we will win through the non-conf and then be competitive in the big ten and exceed expectations.

KF is known for his september slip ups and its just sad. He continually gets beat by "lesser" teams and does nothing about it. He does not make any changes nor does he show any emotion in the post game pressers. He just acts like its any other day to him.

This thread is a bit ridiculous. Iowa rated 13th in the nation lost to an FCS school. Iowa is only the third top 15 team to lose to an FCS school. Many on hear are overreacting, I'm not one of them but come on. This is one of the worst losses of the Ferentz era people have the right to overreact right now.

As for the Doyle comments today. I would actually love to know what he has to say about why an FCS school was able to come into our house today and push our guys all over the field and dominate the trenches. They taught Iowa how to play Iowa style football. I was at the Rose Bowl and I thought the same thing then but that was Stanford.

Doyle can put all of the muscle that he wants on our players, but once they're on the field, it's up to them to apply it. That's where I believe the problem is. We heard CJ had to get on players to practice harder this week. If you're gonna practice half-assed, you're going to play half-assed.

Hahahaha!!!!! Seriously, you sound like an entitled spoiled little brat.

This is comical.

Ok make it personal if that makes you feel better. You act like we should not complain or criticise the coaches after a lousy performance. You're the one that seems to think you know more and are better than all of us. They make millions , but are above question. Makes sense

It was one game. Every team is unique and responds differently. A B1G West title is no harder to achieve today than it was yesterday, but based on this board's reaction, you would think we were guaranteed a losing season. If the trend continues, I'll get worried, but until then most reactions are quite premature.

Based on performance in the first 3 games, you should be worried about whether Iowa can play the run against MN, WI, PSU, MI, and NB. That is not a ridiculous criticism but a serious question mark regarding this team. The defense cannot stop the run and that has been true two out of three games so far against opponents not as good as the five I mentioned.

That is a fair criticism. There were defensive questions through the last few games of the season last year even and I got blasted during the offseason for pointing it out. Saying something like we should fire our DLine coach is where it reaches stupid and becomes a hilarious overreaction.

I agree 8-4 is pretty darn good for Iowa.

8-4 is, and always should be, considered unacceptable. Especially at a school paying it's coaches the kind of money that Iowa does. And also considering our 3 non-conference games SHOULD be easy wins.

I agree that calling for everyone to be fired based upon one game is dumb. But no dumber than thinking that Iowa's offensive approach on their last possession was the best option.

It was a poor approach. But seriously, everyone is acting like Iowa's passing game was so dominant and should have been utilized at the end. News flash, the passing game was just as stagnant. Pretty sure Iowa tried at the end of the first half with passes, only to give ir back to ndsu.

Look, the coaches aren't without blame. But people need to seriously chill out.

Who said the coaches were beyond criticism????

Again, some of you sound like entitled babies. I am not making it personal, just keeping it real. It is a game. Relax.

Per you Some of us sound like entitled babies but you're not making it personal ? You should be thankful we have fans who give a crap. Would you prefer apathy? If this continues you will get your wish.

We sh*t the bed for the conference. I'm going to try to duplicate it to see how it feels.

I'm not that surprised because I really didn't buy into this team yet after the first 2 weeks. I wanted to, but there were many things you saw that said this isn't gonna work against better teams or better teams are gonna do damage against this. There's more than a few holes on both sides of the ball that werent exposed by 2 very bad teams the first 2 weeks.

Dude, who do you think we are?

Even the great Hayden Fry had a .613 winning percentage. I don't think anyone is ecstatic with an 8-4 season but it is not a complete failure. Not every year is going to be a Rose bowl year.

We've only won more than 8 games 7 times in the last 30 years. The rest of those seasons weren't failures.

I just don't understand the doom and gloom after we lost one game.

8-4 is mediocrity. It generally means 5-4 conference record. Mediocrity should not be tolerated, especially at a school paying its head coach one of the highest salaries in all of college football. Our friends across the boarder fired their coach not too long ago for too many 9-3 seasons. If you want to be an ELITE program you can't settle for those types of seasons year after year continuing to give your coaches rediculous contracts, while watching them get flagrantly out coached by the likes of North Dakota State.

. The sun will come up tomorrow.
And we'll still have a loss to an FCS team that will damage Iowa's reputation for quite a while. At least until they do something about it, and who the f*** honestly knows when that's gonna happen. Apparently it won't this year because we have to have a 2010/2014 type year this year because f***ing unnecessary reasons..................

Exactly. If it wasn't for mistakes that any other coach who is decent wouldn't make, things wouldn't be so gloomy. Especially since the Hawkeyes are like cicadas, and come out and have a good year once every 10 or 15 years, and that year was last year, and it still turned out crappy. Oh, to be a fan of a team coached by a Ferentz.

That Beatdown by Stanford in bowl game kind of showed Iowa was overachieving. This loss to Dakota is return to the mean. Pretty bad loss, but Iowa has some big holes on defense and offense.

Yep and you Iowa tards decide to give the dam coach and extention? He was one good year last year and hes the greatest coach out there!! All you dam Hawkeye fans thought your team is all mighty and something special. I kept saying this offseason to just wait for this year and you guys will all shut your mouths. Well next season is here and looky looky, you lose to NDSU?? WTF! Iowa is a crap team and will never be an elite team like OSU, Michigan or the Huskers or even a good team like MSU. Sorry , harsh reply yes but all off season you dam Hawkeyes kept puffing out your chest and claiming how great you are and how the West is Iowas....Not so fast my friend...i believe the Huskers may have something to say about the west. There definitely the best team in the west by far. They handed the Oregon Ducks a loss today. And before you claim there not that good this year, being 100% real here, would Iowa of have beatin Oregan today?? Yea they'd got killed bye the Ducks if they can't even beat NDSU. Losers

Oh one last thing, schedule some real teams during none conference games, or hell one good team a year for none con....if your going to lose to NDSU, might as well lose to Oregon, UCLA or someone with pulse. Then you can claim there a good team. What can you say about NDSU?? There a good team, should be top 10??
