The more I read things, watch things, and look into things. A good chunk of me is starting to get the feeling/indication than Iowa was prepping for Nebraska in the weeks ahead of the game (Purdue/Minnesota). I could be wrong on this...but something doesn't seem right.

They work on most opponents for a short time during the summer, and I'm guessing they worked on Nebby too. I'm sure they had scouts or GA's working on scouting and strategy drafts for weeks before now, but I highly doubt the players did any in-season prep before now.

I have been thinking the same thing as the OP. At least to a degree.

I felt like they knew they could handle Minnesota and Purdue up front if they played smart and didn't need to show too much.

On the flip side, we did see a few wrinkles for the first time that make the other team spend time and effort on.

I am guessing we will see (Most of us won't notice) some very subtle interior changes in line play and will see some defensive adjustments made as well.

I actually agree with op and have been song the same the last couple of days. Very vanilla defensively the last two weeks, sitting in zone coverage. What little raider we've used has been very vanilla and we have not shown anything defensively. I'm thinking we'll see some different stuff Friday.

I highly doubt they have been even thinking of Nebraska in the previous weeks. One game at a time is more than a slogan, it is the way it has to be for us to win. Go Hawks!

Presuming this is the case --I'm not convinced that it is-- how many cards do we lay down for Nebraska? How many do we save for MSU?

This is a hard game with a team with some talent. I think we get after it this week. Michigan state is like playing ourselves. That will be a battle of execution more than a battle of schemes.

I think the defense is tired. Mint and Purdue were weak defensive efforts and the defense looks gassed in both. I sure hope they can come prepared and fresh against Nebby because not sure we can win without them. They have not been able to get off the field or stop the run - that is concerning. Phil Parker ought to earn his pay this week......

Spill the beans this Friday and let the chips fall where there may against sparty.

Honestly, we had to be holding some defensive schemes back the last 4 games. If not, Phil better come out of the donut shop because we were fat cats on the d line. We need to blitz often and keep armweak on the move

I wouldn't say they were looking ahead or saving anything for Nebbie.

These past 3 games I think you saw a team that was just trying to win. Injuries have hurt the hawks and not having a bye week since late October is having an effect on this team. Some of the guys are worn out and having to play a lot of snaps. Some of the DL is young and learning as they go.

Plus look at the 3 teams Iowa has played. I realize everyone if fighting for bowl games, but Purdue had nothing to lose. They were gambling on 4th down and pulling out all the tricks. Minny is not as bad as their record and finally putting it together. Indiana has played all the teams tough as well. remind you Purdue only lost to MSU by 3 and beat Nebbie by 10.

The Big ten is pretty balanced and there is no superior team. I think this game has the makings for a barn burner. Which is good for the conference.

It seems...that Nebraska is falling into a trap of being overconfident...

It seems...more than ever before that Iowa is grounded, steady, short term goal-task oriented...understanding the historic opportunity before it...

It seems...KF, staff, QB, other leaders are ready to make amends...

Although Iowa has had many talented QBs in the past...CJ seems best fit, emotionally to play this game in this moment in time. Talent, confidence, humbleness, with a calm resolve...he is a leader and the other players follow him and look up to him...

All of the above, I believe, will help Iowa take Nebraska down...

I wouldn't overthink it. There aren't many, if any, secrets this time of year. Pretty much everything is on film for opponents and self scouting. And any packages added would be tailored for the Bugeaters. I think the key to the game is turnovers, which favors us, and offensive execution, also in our favor. I do think we're going to need 40 to 45 points to win.
