If you disagree with Dan Gable on wrestling in the room vs a match then by all means, go for it.

Lee isn’t going “live” in the sense that you believe he is. He’s also not teching Corey Clark anytime soon.

Gable wasn't talking about risk of injury in that context either was he?

I believe what a staff member tells me about Spencer's performance in the room, yes. I also believe his evaluation when he's says "Lee is the best he's ever seen out of the gates". Somehow, I think many are vastly underestimating what this kid brings to the table.

Then it shouldn't be that hard to understand that maybe, just maybe, Spencer has taken it to CC a couple times in PRACTICE.

I'm not disagreeing with Gable. I'm saying wrestling one or two real 7 min matches a week is not more of a risk than live wrestling for 30 mins a day every day of the week in practice.

My entire point is that if you're worried about Lee reinjuring his knee and think he should redshirt this year, then he shouldn't be going live in practice.

In practice the “live” action is closely monitored and controlled. Anything that puts a recovering athlete in any level of peril for reinjury can and will be stopped immediately. A live match against a non-teammate with an official only looking for the standard dangerous situations.

Yep. Even though we all know this kid is a phenom, I do think Hawk fans still have a tendency not to appreciate just how special he really is. We'll all see soon enough. Well, probably not soon enough for any of us, but relatively soon.

I believe Lee could be a 4x champ. But I don't believe he's tech-ing CC. That doesn't mean I underestimate him.
