Spencer Lee Questions

Good lord i had to stop listening. It like was amateur hour at the strip club bringing out the pregos and meth girls, plus the girls working their way through college!

FIFY...at least that's what I heard goes on every Tues night, 7PM to 9PM, $5 bottles at the local strip club. At least that's the rumor.

Casber has been at this so long you would think that he would get better over the years making his interviews more crisp and on point. He may be getting worse. When Tony Hager first started doing interviews you could tell he was raw and a bit lost at times. Atleast he is figuring it out and making an effort to improve. Im not saying i could do it any better but i am not putting myself out there providing this service either.

Don't sell yourself short... I believe my dog could do a better job than Casper.

Maybe its just me but i cant stand listening to Casber. Talks about inviting himself to Spencer's grad party. Then he feels the need to remind Spencer its a 17 hour drive from home to Iowa City. He tried a April Fools joke of Teasdale decommiting PSU and going to Lehigh. Yeah right. Reprimands his coworker on air about microphones and how to use them like he is some kind of professional.

Absolutely. He is cringe worthy and has absolutely zero self awareness. 17 hours? Has he ever been out of the state of Iowa? 9-10 hours

Ok, I'm happy we all agree on how awefull Casper is.....Now if I look at tony as a "blogger" , then heck yes, let's talk about metcalf to ISU, let's talk about an all Hawkeye staff in Ames. Let's discuss that Pollard has assembled the highest paid staff in all of D1 wrestling. Let's discuss the fact that although pollard makes a fraction of what Barta makes he just might be a better AD.
Metcalf to Ames may or may not be true. (Hint:it is) either you are a "journalist" that reports truths with facts or you are "blogger" that drops hints and posts rumors. Man I miss Andy Hamilton.

Finally, yes Tony is better then Casper with the interviews. But so is anyone that has a heartbeat. I stand by my original statement that I would prefer neither of them interview incoming Hawkeyes. It's like nails on a chalkboard.

I have no words.

I can get on board with all of that! Casber's Teasdale Interview had to be the worst thing I have ever heard! #NOMORECASBER.

Agree that was hard to listen to and creepy. I just recently listened to the Tony Robie interview expecting a question to come up about whether St. John or Zaddick would stay as assistants (obviously we know St. John is gone), but nothing of the sorts. He spent most of the time talking about his love for his friend Ty Walz.

I don't get it?

I've been saying for awhile now that there feels like there's something off between Metcalf and the program. Why was he working as an assistant at a random high school in Iowa instead of somewhere with the program in Iowa City? He rarely, if ever, mentions anything about the Hawkeye program, after or before big duals, etc. on his social media. I just went and did a quick perusal of his Tweets and while there are bunches of wrestling related Tweets, there's only one that even addresses a Hawkeye, and that was about CC going to Capitol Hill. Other than that, a bunch of posts about Kyle Snyder, Zain Retherford, Mark Hall, Jordan Burroughs, etc. It bothers me because he's my favorite wrestler we've produced since I started watching avidly.

It's just weird that the best wrestler we've had in the last ~10 years in both Folkstyle and Freestyle is such a non-entity in regards to presence with the program all of a sudden. I was called a lot of names for it over the summer, too. Don't care. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark in regards to this.

He can't change his mind?

He definitely can change his mind. It was an honest question and no dig at Brent what so ever. I guess in my mind it would be a "demotion" of sorts as well so I was a bit confused on why he would look at being an assistant at ISU (of all places) instead of running our national team. Is the money about the same? I suppose one draw would be his family staying in Iowa?

Our wrestling media is small and we are limited in options to get exposure/messages out. Casber fits that for me, hes been around long enough to have made relationships that keep him in the game. But the last year, he has the feeling of a rolling stone on the backside of the hill. He tries way to hard to be relevant and "shocking" for the clicks. Just feels weird.

Either that or he is on one hell of a continual bender and we are witness to it.

I feel the same way anytime an Iowa wrestler-especially the great ones leave-- not only under Brands, but same with Gable.

We have only so many coaching positions,we have only so much resources-These guys have to support themselves and have families to feed -- I cant blame Gable/Brands there is only so many official jobs. I cant blame the athletes-- they want to make money, some want to coach etc.

I saw Brent and his family in an "Iowa" suite at nationals - He was rooting for our guys as much as anyone.

Is it weird when our fav guys are in an opposing teams corner--of course-- but We all have different paths/goals.

His job is also that of a resident coach, and while Iowa will forever be his team, he really should try to be as impartial as possible. Brent would love to be on staff, but he understands the situation as well as anyone. Do we think it's weird that Jody Strittmatter isn't constantly tweeting things about Iowa? I would also like to add that as great as Brent is/was Tom and Terry were better, and they had to leave the program for several years before they eventually came back. I would love to have Brent on staff, but people are making something out of nothing.

I also saw Brent in the Iowa Box. He was there for a while in the same section as Jeni Brands and the family. Otherwise his seat was right near my seat which happened to be by the USAW guys . . . Lindland, B. Zadick, Terry Steiner, Spencer Lee for a bit and others.

As far as his twitter posts about the guys from other teams, I suppose that it's because his job is actually getting the best talent into the USAW development. It's not because he's angry at Iowa, but rather because his job is to get those guys to feel supported by him and team USA. I suppose that Gilman, Clark et. al. already have personal relationships with him and don't need his twitter comments to know he's pulling for them. It's also probably bad form to publicly pull for your "old" team when you should not have bias in his current job.

JMHO,
Phill

Impossible... Doesn't fit Vaks narrative.

I'm so glad that the election taught some of our simpler folk a new word like "narrative", which they can now use with impunity or understanding.

Even for you, this is a poor attempt at a shot... Keep gathering your spot on intel from twitter deductions tho... It's serving you quite well.

Ahh, the great one has spoken......yes they are, for message boards and shock jocks, not journalist....
Look hotsteper, Tony does great work as I listened on Saturday. AZchief adds a lot to this board, stop with your"holier than thou" BS. You have like 9 posts. Don't come on here and accuse and bash our good posters who give us great information. You are part of the reason I have stayed away since Nationals because I am tired of the stupid shit that gets posted on here daily about our wrestlers and future recruits. Sorry for the short rant but your tone is very annoying.

LOL. What's the point of putting in effort to taking shots at you anymore? You are the Oracle of Nothing. You hold no value. Meanwhile, I haven't declared anything I'm saying to be fact, just talking about something. Why don't you go scream about the HWC some more before being proven to be an idiot about that as well and having to back off that, too.

You talking about adding "value" is absolutely priceless.. You are a sad, embarrassing, tiny man and it's clear that you know it.

LOL. You're man desperately trying to cling to the veneer of being an insider on an internet forum while bringing nothing to the table. You love to recently pout about how Penn State is kicking our ass (what insight!) Another place they are kicking our ass is in insiders who actually know what's happening.

I would love to hear how me wondering if something is wrong between Metcalf and the program is "embarassing". I haven't said it's some grand destructor of the program. But if it's anythi9ng other than 100% positive, I'm "sad and embarassing." Oh no! What will I do without your approval? Why don't you give us some more vague percentages about how good you feel about recruits coming in?

Haha... You just can't help yourself... You're hard on for me has gone beyond creepy. I don't need to explain or justify myself to the likes of you. Plenty of people here know who I am and know what and who I know... Just put me on ignore and be done with it. Or keep being a juvenile and trying to think you're calling me out... Nobody will give 2 shits either way.

Hard on for you? You addressed me, you nutjob. I can't remember the last time I quoted a single post of yours until today. Truly hilarious.

You tried calling me out less than a month ago you idiot... And by all means, laugh your ass off... All by yourself.

The classic "don't address the fact that I was wrong" post. So go on, you raging narcissist. Explain how I have a "hard on" for you when you are the one who started this little back and forth.

I'm the raging narcissist?!? Holy smokes. Man you are one sick puppy.

And again tries to dodge. Let me speak slowly for you: if I'm the one with the "hard on" for you, why are you the one starting this back and forth?

Because you've been beating your dumbass drum about Metcalf for far too long... Despite numerous people telling you were wrong, some of which who work within the program and others who speak to Brent regularly. It's pathetic. Then you go on to call ME the narcissist.. So rich. But wouldn't expect anything less from you.

You are right though. I will never read another one of your posts again... You win.. Congratulations.

Yeah. And several people contacting me thru other mediums to tell me other stuff. ANd I hadn't mentioned it since before the season. Whatever man. Glad to be rid of you.
