I finally was able to listen to the Takedown Wrestling Podcast today, and it was immediately made clear that he did not want to talk about recruiting. Four minutes later we we're still talking about recruiting, and then we finally got to the questions that you should ask a 16 year old Junior World Champion. Then the follow up question of "who is Daton Fix?"...I felt embarrassed for the guys at Takedown with that interview. That wasn't even the worse part of it. Obviously, he made it clear that he is only going to be a junior in high school before he was asked "if it was a deal to announce on their radio show?" Come on Casber, luckily Tony cleaned it up for him.

My only question is when does the recruiting period open up for the media to recruit Spencer Lee? In My opinion he outclassed Takedown in that interview. Whomever gets him is getting a special one.
 
I guess it's all based on perspectives because I didn't hear it quite like how you presented it. I enjoyed the interview and I guess unlike you I wanted to hear Lee's thoughts on the only guy that's beaten him in high school.
 
I would love to see Spencer Lee as a Hawk. However, I think it will be tough to root against him where ever he goes. Unless its against us.
 
Some ppl just try to find the negative in things. Casber was clearly joking about saying who is Daton Fix otherwise why would he bring it up?

I think we all would love to see Spencer Lee in the black and gold, that I think is a given. The training partners he would have every day plus Terry Brands coaching him from day one in college and I think you will have someone nobody wants to see on the mat across from them for years to come. With all that being said he is only going to be a junior and while I think a lot of kids want that spotlight and attention SL seems like a calm, cool, and collected individual that might not be influenced by the attention grab. I do however think he would love 15,000 fans cheering him on every home dual!!
 
So dicemen99 was that post supposed to be pointed at one particular person or the group as a whole? I don't get to bent out of shape on the recruiting train and I am still fairly new to the board so don't take it personal or think I am trying to call you out or anything. I know some people get carried away but I am not on here enough to keep up with everything that is said either.
 
Don't mind Diceman. He's just another Penn State fan making mountains out of mole hills. I visit a lot of wrestling boards. Spencer Lee love is not just privy to HR. With that being said, the threads everywhere about the kid are indeed getting old.

The board in general. In the PAST TWO WEEKS there have been the following threads with hundreds of replies (total):

Spencer Lee
Lee vs. Gilman, Mega, Any Top 5
Walk Away From the Ledge (Lots of Lee stuff)
Spencer Lee's Commitment not to commit

In addition to his being referenced in a couple of other threads.including more than a few times in the Suriano to PSU thread.
 
Understood WildTurk and I was not in anyway calling him out just asking a simple question. Thought he might have taken my training partners and coach Brands talk personal. Not saying PSU would not have young talent to work with either it was just a week ago I kind of said the same thing in Foley's mailbag and some PSU homer said why would Lee want to go to Iowa and learn to stall when PSU is so fun and offensive ala Taylor, Ruth, and Wright. Obviously that guy does not know what the hell he is talking about he is just living in the present.

I try not to ridicule others and I was not ridiculing diceman but this guy needed throat punched through the screen :mad: I should have reminded him how Prescott bumped up from 118 back in the day to wrestle Brands in a dual and got destroyed. Of course he probably is not old enough to remember that. Anyways carry on fellow HR posters

Point taken diceman, like I said I am not on here enough to see what all is going on. No judgment made I just enjoy the hell out of knowledgeable posters so keep it coming!

Did you really go through the threads and look for Spencer Lee's name everywhere here? Are there multiple threads on BWI or TheMat with Lee's name mentioned? I think so. He is the #1 or 2 recruit in the Nation. And he just won a world title. People are going to talk about him. Especially here on one of the most active boards available. Get over it !

Be dam now it looks like we have to get permission from someone from Penn State before we can discuss any thing on HR. I'm sure he had enough time to do all the searching as BWI is so borning at this time of the year. ;)

Not that big a deal considering the fact that a number of Iowa fans agree with the PSU fans on the topic. My favorite was the thread where IHawk9times was speculating that Lee was going to Iowa because that is where his girlfriend wants to go and they are going to get married. Huh?

It wasn't that hard to go through the threads. There is a search function at the top - takes about 2 seconds. And, yes, I frequent the other boards and there is nothing like the homage to Lee like there is on here. Nothing even close.

You guys are too much...this is a pretty well deserved jab at the group. Seriously, as a PSU fan I'm starting to think that I WILL feel bad if you guys don't land Lee.

As per normal you're entitled to your opinion, as goofy as it may be.

It may just be since Iowa has far and away the largest fan base in the country for College Wrestling, that all kinds of things get brought up again and again on here. Funny you forgot to mention the 57 threads about Brody Grothus in the last year. And he's already a Hawkeye if I remember correctly. Little context.

There have been 36 threads started on HR in the last 7 days (all by users none by our moderator) and 5 threads with Lee in the last two weeks. I'm not going to count right now but I am guessing we are at least double that the last two weeks with even more older threads that have been posted on but not started in that time frame. So roughly 5 out of 72 is a whopping 7% of threads (probably high). Not quite the all over the board lovefest you try to make it sound like.

But hey, don't let the facts get in the way of your opinion.

This is the most active board. Why would it be close? GET OVER IT! And stop introducing yourself as a Penn State fan. We all know that. You have made that clear many times here. If Lee goes anywhere else than Iowa I'm sure you would be the first to Jizz in your pants. You have also made that very clear.

I guess the reason for all of the Iowa love is that Spencer is the best lighter weight wrestler out there.

He epitomizes wrestling the Iowa style. He wants to be the best in the world.

For him to reach his goals, the best place is clearly Iowa (in my mind of course). Wrestling with Gilman, Clark, Renteria, Mejia, McD, and Ramos everyday and being coached by Terry Brands is without doubt best for this young man's interests. This is the best place for him to reach his very lofty goals. Makes total sense. What is not to love about this young man.

I truly believe that if he doesn't choose Iowa, he is making a mistake for himself.

And the fact that it will help Iowa get a few NCs doesn't hurt :D.

Yes, joking like when your arrogance led you to say you could make 138 after Joe Flo advised Bader was wrestling it at Worlds. To me it sounded as if you thought you could take Bader. Furthermore, you're 5' tall so I hope you could weigh in under 140. There is nothing more that I would like to see than you and Bader scrap. I know you are a bigger star than him on social media, so put your Twitter followers where your mouth is.

Tony isn't man enough for that challenge. Too much time invested in slinging shirts to grow wrestling, tweeting about how he never backed down despite weighing only a 124 lbs. in college, and pintresting wrestling shoes...he doesn't have time to train for Bader.
