Spencer Withdraws from US Open

That is an embarrassment. Unreal. The kid needs to pack it in and begin a coaching career if that's the eventual goal. Excuses are for wussies. Even if excuses aren't for wussies, communicate with your potential opponent and his coaches.

I have no knowledge of anything, but he looked tired before he even stepped on the mat against Smith. It looks like a viral infection to me. He has no ooomf. No real idea what is going on, but it did not look like knees to me. It is possible that having a physical injury drains him mentally, but it looks viral to me.

Listened to Lee's father, who just said Spencer is not 100% and was not at the ncaa's either, but did not give any specifics. Said Spencer was "pushing it" and needs more time to get better, and stressing that the 2024 Olympics is now the goal. So who knows - could be the attempted rapid recovery after bilateral knee surgeries or something else.
