Very well done. Hard to imagine Brands holding back any of the dogs after watching that.
Those were crazy days in the cesspool. I’m pretty sure that was the only time I’ve ever been banned from HR. ( Some folks were pi$$ed that I was pulling for and then celebrating the hire of TnT during the transition. Lol)

I’ve read some folks on here describe Sundays dual meet as a “meaningless dual in Dec”. Really? If Iowa doesn’t roll out its starters there is a very real chance that they lose this dual. I vaguely remember the last time the clones won 03 or 04? This is a big deal. My hope is Harris and Lee weigh in and at the very last second SMFL runs out, sticks Terukina in the first period and then eats an orange.

If I remember correctly Terry was trying to get to Metcalf to shake his hand. The funniest part of the whole ordeal was their coaches getting in Bobby’s face. I love St. John and Metcalf Dresser is a DB. When Tom and Terry decide to walk away imagine Lee, Metcalf , Star and Bobby as our staff. Would love to have St. John but not over Star as he is probably the best recruiter we have had in a long time.
For all the hope of Spencer lee wrestling. I really hope he doesn’t. Yes I said it. He needs time to get healthy. Surgery’s are a complicated thing. especially in his case. Had many. Losing a dual is not the end of the world. Without lee Iowa still wins. Will be close tho. Save lee for Penn st. It’s early in the year and the winters hurt after surgery’s. Takes more time to get right if you know what I mean
I hope he does what he and the doctors think is best. And you're wrong - losing to ISU in Carver would be the end of the world.
Duals don’t mean squat in the grand scheme of things. ISU could win the dual yet they won’t be within 30 points at nationals.
Remember how awesome it was when we beat PSU in those duals but then they ran a train on us at nationals? Yeah. Me neither.
Doctors decide this stuff. Message board dorks like us are just along for the ride.

How do you know the doctors haven’t cleared him? Do you honestly believe that he would go out there if there was inherent risk greater than normal? I sure as hell don’t, and I don’t think you do either. That said, if Spencer goes, can we agree that the doctors cleared him.
Till then everything else is just talk. Some talk is more credible than others and that’s what I’ve been listening to. Doesn’t mean anything till it happens.

He’s a college athlete that’s protected by Hippa so if he was cleared you’re not gonna hear about it.
I think an athlete recovering from injury is always anxious to get back to what they’ve always done. That said, if he’s cleared, and the options have been discussed and he chooses to make his debut this coming Sunday, I do not know how you could wish him otherwise. That was my point, and I think others as well. I think it would be your point to if the above criteria was met.
If he’s ready, no reason not to wrestle. Plus he wouldn’t wrestle again until January
Yea, I think you misread my post. You actually suggested he should NOT wrestle. I said he should do what he and the doctors think is best (I have no clue what that is, I am neither he nor his doctor). The part about losing the dual being the end of the world was just a joke....well, sort of. Clear?
Lol It doesn’t matter what we think we know. SL and his docs know best and they’re keeping things close to the vest, as usual. We can hope that he’s cleared and comes back for ISU. I just doubt it will happen.
I don't think we see Lee Sunday. I hope we do, but only if he's totally healed and as healthy as he's going to get. I haven't done the math to know if it's possible, but I've been wondering if we haven't seen Teske because he's on his way down. Maybe he found out against Cal Baptist that 133 takes more horsepower. I don't know why he'd give up a chance to have a post-season spot to be a part-time starter unless Schriever was handling him anyway (which I doubt). Or, maybe he's being a team player because he knows we need something better at 125 when Spencer can't go. We'll all find out Sunday afternoon.
I’m pretty realistic, the Hawks aren’t finishing ahead of the team with 4 returning National Champs. They have a heck of a shot at half their team wrestling in the finals. Losing a dual to the clones in Carver would sting for a long time.
To be clear,acting like the dual is "meaningless" is folly. Does it decide the NCAA Team Title? Of course not. Would it affect recruiting? Absolutely, at the very least, locally. The best thing for Iowa is to maintain being so far ahead of ISU that anyone watching thinks of ISU as a fallback only, if they can't get to Iowa.
Trust me, MSU has had that status under Michigan for a long time now. ISU hasn't fallen near as hard overall as MSU, but make no mistake, a win over the bigger name, inner state rival would be HUGE. WIth the resurgence of homegrown talent in Iowa, now is not the time to let ISU gain ANY foothold in the state, even if they go on to lose by 30 at NCAA's...

I think Lee should forget about this season and folk all together and get ready to rep Team USA in 24. Just my opinion.
How Iowa fares vs. PSU at nationals wasn't the point. The point was that no one remembers those duals. Duals are fun and interesting but NCAAs matter, duals really do not.
Zach & Tyler put together a great video. It gave both sides a fair shake. Well done.
At this point in the thread I almost forgot that it was started talking about the Stalemates video. Was almost expecting to see a video of SL's doctors giving a press conference.
Back to the mini documentary, an excellent piece of work by the Stalemates team. Great story telling, some audio I had never heard before and a great job covering the entire thing from start to present. Other than the Big10 Brands doc, this is the best wrestling content I have seen in a long time. Wish it was longer.

During the post-Penn Presser, Coach Brands said as much, albeit in reference to Nelson.
He said the coaches counsel the wrestlers, but once the doctors clear them, starters have earned the right to declare themselves ready to go. I think this was exemplified when Kemerer returned.
So it's first up to the doctors then it's up to Spencer (taking Coach Brands counsel under advisement).
Everyone can speculate all they want. Very few people actually know what's going on and that's the way it should be. I think everyone knows when they hear coach talk

I disagree. Losing Spencer Lee to an injury because we willed him to wrestle too soon would be the end of the world. I want this kid to win his 4th, and frankly I don't give a shit which duals we lose in order to have a healthy Spencer at NCAAs.
