what is that -- 15 td's and 2 ints? He is inconsistent, yes, but has great arm talent and learning to look guys off, go through reads quickly, pre-snap stuff. We have some much tougher defenses to face going forward but I see a lot of promise. When was the last time we had a qb throw 25 td passes in a single year?

Yeah, I really wish threads that single out one particular player would get deleted.

You hit the nail on the head. Stanley is inconsistent. Yes, he needs to get better (and will) but some of the hyperbole is ridiculous. The kid has talent.

Nate Stanley is a developing quarterback who has
only started 6 college games. Yet this Soph. QB has
throw 15 TD passes so far this season in 4 wins
and 2 losses for the Hawks. Nate will continue to
get more comfortable in his role as the starting QB.

Bottom Line: He still has time to become a good QB
in the history of Iowa football.

Jeff George Jr. of Illinois signed a scholarship at
Illinois because of his last name. He is a legacy
recruit and he looked like there is much learning
ahead for him.

He looks really good today.

He has a good arm though and there is a lot of young talent around him. Lovie Smith is using the Kirk Ferentz and Mark Dantonio playbook to resurrect a program. Start a crap ton of freshmen and whoever survives to their senior year will be really good and mentally tough.

Agreed that he plays like a kid who's still learning how to play at this level, but I think he has a real chance to be one of the best of the Ferentz era.

Stanley is already good, getting better and has the potential to be one of our greats.

His problems on the deep ball is his overthrows. First, if you're going to miss, miss long. Second, he's got the biggest arm we've had in a long time. He's probably just excited and throws to hard and flat. That throw is teachable, with experience (reducing the powder charge in the cannon) he'll connect. The big arm is not teachable.

Half way through soph season Nate is 97/168 .577 1285 7.65 15 2. Last season, his 5th in the program and second as a starter in all 12 games, CJ was 170/301 53.5 1929 6.40 17 10. CJ never threw more than 17 TDs in a season. Nate has already led two come from behind late game drives, both of which should have been wins so it appears he can handle late game pressure. While much better than last year we aren't putting great receivers (although Fant and Hockenson might develop into the 20-40 yard killers) on the field.

The future is very bright for No. 4.

Stanley is still young but has a hell of a bright future. I think most of his inconsistency has come when he's been under pressure, but I would wager to say that's when most quarterbacks inconsistency show. We need to expect inconsistently, especially with a makeshift line that's in front of him. After all both tackles are freshmen, left tackle red shirt and right tackle true freshman, so regardless of what happens with the rest of this season I'm very excited about the next couple years.
