Plenty has been talked about the two defenses. We know each team has a solid punter, and QB Sean Clifford has been talked up for his 5-0 record.
Spencer Petras is 11-2 as a starter, 1-0 against Penn State as a starter.
In 2019, Nathan Stanley finished 10-3, 0-3 in 3 seasons as a starter against Penn State.
Who would you prefer in this one, quite frankly?
Iowa offensive and defensive lines will tell us plenty about tomorrow's game. Petras needs to get the ball out timely. Otherwise, he isn't going to likely be too successful.
Sean Clifford has been up and down. He can win with his feet. He likely has more ceiling to date, but he also has a history of more mistakes.
Iowa needs to establish Petras in the passing game. Set up the run, with the pass. Last week, Petras started slow.
He has performed well in the 2nd quarter in multiple games, including in last year 21 points scored in the the 41-21 win.
Not much talk on Petras this week. I believe @TomKakert named him his player to click.
Tennessee was last team in 1989 to open 0-5 the previous year and 5-0 the next year. Just like Penn State this year
Tennessee went 11-1 in 1989. By the way, their loss was Week 6 at 5-0 on the road at #10 Alabama.
Bigger match up at Kinnick tomorrow.
