Just read where this young man will be signing tomorrow with the Hawks--if so, very nice win for Hawks as he was considered a lock for ISU
Does he have an ISU offer? 247 says no.Just read where this young man will be signing tomorrow with the Hawks--if so, very nice win for Hawks as he was considered a lock for ISU
Does he have an ISU offer? 247 says no.
and he picked the right teamIowa and ISU both offered him a preferred walk on opportunity.
Do preferred walkons sign anything?Just read where this young man will be signing tomorrow with the Hawks--if so, very nice win for Hawks as he was considered a lock for ISU
We just picked up a talented, athletic walk-on with offers from top end FCS schools and you're worried about his offer list? Come on, man.I guess so

A PWO is considered a “very nice win”?Just read where this young man will be signing tomorrow with the Hawks--if so, very nice win for Hawks as he was considered a lock for ISU

“Ok man”We just picked up a talented, athletic walk-on with offers from top end FCS schools and you're worried about his offer list? Come on, man.
They all count towards the 105 man rosterCorrect me, I thought PW, GS, and WOs were a thing of the past and a 'strict'105 rule was in place. What did I get wrong this time, as I often say to my wife.
While the NCAA says all 105 can be on scholarship, some teams and conferences have said they are sticking with 85 scholarships and 20 walk ons. Maybe those walk ons will be able to get some money but not a full ride. But the roster cap at 105 is solid.Correct me, I thought PW, GS, and WOs were a thing of the past and a 'strict'105 rule was in place. What did I get wrong this time, as I often say to my wife.
You assume I wasn't already doing that.........Hold your breath and I will let you know when you can breathe
it is a player that Kirk wanted and up until last week was considered a lock for ISU so yes a very nice win.A PWO is considered a “very nice win”?
Could be short lived as walk ons are going to be a thing of the past beyond Spring practice cut.Just read where this young man will be signing tomorrow with the Hawks--if so, very nice win for Hawks as he was considered a lock for ISU
no they won’t, I swear most of you are incapable of reading or retaining information. It is a 105 roster limit that could be made up of all walk-ons if Kirk wanted to. There is no such thing as “walk-ons are a thing of the past”Could be short lived as walk ons are going to be a thing of the past beyond Spring practice cut.
I’m asking an honest question. Why is a PWO a nice win? In other words, I would like to know more about this kid’s potential. Plenty of high school recruits fly under the radar and end up doing well in college; I’m just curious what others are excited about in this particular one.Why do you think it is not a nice win?
Do we ever really know with a PWO? If we did they probably would have a scholarship. You may see a PWO only play against the 1s and 2s in practice. You may see some on special teams and a few times in the two deep or even start. It definitely is about potential, and we will just have to wait and see. Now if this was with the NFL, who has only 53 roster spots vs 105 for college, may be different. Of course, could be on practice squad in NFL.I’m asking an honest question. Why is a PWO a nice win? Hope so. In a good running offense, WR blocking is essential to breaking long runs.can he block?
If all 105 players could be on scholarship, is money the only thing stopping a team from giving out 105 scholarships? Is he only a 'walk-on' because Iowa doesn't have any money left to give out?no they won’t, I swear most of you are incapable of reading or retaining information. You are asking two unrelated questions. If all 105 players could be on scholarship, is money the only thing stopping a team from giving out 105 scholarships? Is he only a 'walk-on' because Iowa doesn't have any money left to give out?
Yep, I read the roster limit backwards.no they won’t, I swear most of you are incapable of reading or retaining information. It is a 105 roster limit that could be made up of all walk-ons if Kirk wanted to. There is no such thing as “walk-ons are a thing of the past”
New rule is 105 total on team, including scholarships, walk ons etc. 105 total. After reading all the posts I guess I still don't understand...If the limit is 85 then how come you can go to 105? Why stop at 105? Add 25 more like NB use too!!
you can give all 105 scholarships, total team is 105. Big and sec have stated they will provide 85 scholarships. So you can have 85 on scholarships and another 20 walk in’s? And these ( 20 ) can get NIL MONEY??!!! So Oregon and Ohio State can have 85 on scholarship and then pay the other 20 one hundred thousand dollars and call it NIL?
So will Iowa(probably not 100k.) The walk ons are getting NIL money too. That’s why he can turn down a scholarship offer from Northern Illinois. So you can have 85 on scholarships and another 20 walk in’s? And these ( 20 ) can get NIL MONEY??!!! So Oregon and Ohio State can have 85 on scholarship and then pay the other 20 one hundred thousand dollars and call it NIL?
Iowa and ISU both offered him a preferred walk on opportunity.
Thanks diggetydug, i don't spent much time on here, so I must have missed that info being posted 'ad nauseam'You are asking two unrelated questions.
1) yes a team could have all 105 on scholarship (this stuff has been posted ad nauseam for months) but I believe most conferences have stated they are opting to stay at 85 total scholarships including the SEC and B1G
2) Who knows why he is a walk on, maybe the coaching staff felt he was not worthy of a full scholarship, crazy what the possibilities are 🙄
His brother is going to ISU. Maybe they'll have some separation anxiety and both end up at same school eventually? I believe they are twins.I've seen Dylan (and his brother) play in person multiple times as Spirit Lake plays us in non-conference football every year. This IS a good get for us. He's athletic and deceptively fast, decent hands and can out jump most DBs. He's more raw than RVZ, but the bones are there. Definitely fits the WR/TE hybrid role once he adds some weight.
Never known an offer list to catch many balls.I guess so
