SEATTLE -- Chalk this up to something Seattle police weren't expecting during the May Day festivities: A shirtless man stuck in a basketball hoop.

The hammer-wielding man somehow climbed up the hoop at Cal Anderson Park in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood...and became stuck.

As nearly a dozen police officers looked on, the man then began thrashing around, at times dangling just by his stuck foot, other times with his head stuck inside the rim, all in an apparent attempt to free his foot.

It took a ladder from a Seattle Fire truck and two firefighters to climb up and cut down the net and free the man.

Seattle Police initially said they were deciding whether to cite the man for any wrongdoing:

That's a whole lot of standing around doing nothing by Seattle's finest.

I'm 5'7, when I was in HS and early in my Army career I could grab the rim. I can't now, lost my bounce and it isn't coming back.

Have you ever been able to even touch the net in your life? I'm 34 and can still get my whole hand above the rim.

Oh, I can shoot it too. That's one talent that hasn't dropped off from my younger days. I still play in a league with guys that played college ball.

Did your high school team ever go to state? If so, how did they do and did you play against any Div 1 talent in high school?

Who was it?

Ooooohhh, I'm swag. I just so happen to play on a team that beat a team that had one of the best collections of talent ever assembled on an Iowa high school basketball team. Ohhh look at me.

Lol, you're still bitter about that huh? Btw, we beat you twice that season...... No need for a rematch!

I assume we are talking about Waterloo East? We played them in a scrimmage over break. We were down 2 starters, and got ran out of East high. Actually, we were running out of their regardless, but they were loaded. FM tried to dunk on me, and I tried to block him. Ended up hitting him in the face.

Our high school team never made it to Des Moines. And none of our opponents had D1 basketball talent. Played against (and later befriended) a couple Hawkeye football players though.

People don't realize how good that team was. Everyone knew about Mikey and Carlton because they went to Iowa, but probably the best player from those teams Jeremy Cook, couldn't even stay outta trouble long enough. And if they had a coach worth a shit, they would have won a minimum of 3 titles when Carlton was there. No way in hell should they have lost to swag and Bohannon.

I'm guessing FM is McGee? He just out jumped you, had you jumped earlier maybe you had a shot to block him??

The best high school team we played was either Council Bluffs Abe Lincoln my junior year (took us 4 times to beat them) they had John Turek who was a big that went to Nebraska.

The other was from the twin cities Patrick Henry. They won the 3a state championship like 5 years in a row. I went back to look at their line up. They had guys go to Oklahoma, Tulsa, and Fresno St. As well as some Div 2 talent. We beat them at our place by 12. They shot ice cold, but we're ranked in the top 15 in the nation.

Well shit, it isn't like we were chopped liver. Hell I barely played but was athletic enough to play college football. We had two all staters, one who scored over 1,700 pts for UNI.

I do. Treymone Thomas, Travis Ferguson, Mikey, Carlton....they had another good big on that team too though I can't remember the name. Was Breion McCou on that team or did he play more in the Milan Moses era? Regardless, Cook was a baller and just so happened to pull a gun on a good friend of mine. And McGraw is/was a helluva coach.

McCou was on that team with Moses. I remember seeing the names on our scouting reports (that's right we had scouting reports, our coaches were fantastic). Ferguson went to ISU to play football with Milan IIRC. I played flag football against them and a safety for Iowa who's from New Jersey, I just can't remember his name right now.

For the big do you mean Will Smith, frashon McGhee? Yes bre played with those guys. And all of McGraw former players will tell you that he was horrible. Most of the time they didn't have plays, just said go play.

So the "talent" that you have retained for 16+ years wasn't enough to get you to state but you still hang with guys that played college ball. The others on your team really should have stepped it up, they must have sucked.

You ever played with an MMA expert on your team? The pressure not to fail so you avoid an ass whoopin can wreck your game.

Did you play college basketball? What town are you from? I had a buddy at work that said he was on a pretty good team in high school and he talked a lot about how good some teams they played were. He is 34, so he was probably in your grade. You may have played against him even.

Yes.....I'm 6'2 and in HS i was 5'10 and could dunk......
I just don't consider it a life achievement, or a thing to brag about.

Are you telling me you were 5'10 and could dunk? I am 6'1 and could barely dunk and had large hands. I am skeptical as there aren't many guys who aren't freaks who could dunk being a couple inches under 6'. If true then you must have been quite the stud.

Well this is the off topic board...

Btw, tell the female in your profile pic, "swag says hello"!
