Got my haircut today and the lady next to me was talking to her haircutter person about not getting any stimulus money because she made too much. She was a realtor. Despite her annoying behavior, she brought up a good point— the cutoffs were stupid for single vs married.
She was divorced and had 3 unshared kids, but made $85K AGI. This disqualified her. Yet if she was married and he brought in <=$65K they would have qualified for 100%.

***Sorry no pics. Most were upper middle age anyway. None attractive.

How much child support is she getting? $85k AGI plus child support isn’t a drop in the bucket. What about alimony? Without more info I can’t really say, but I’m leaning towards she doesn’t need it.

Life is tough all over. Houses are selling like hotcakes right now....If she got that stimulus $$ she probably would want to work as hard.......Should have told her to "shut up" and work harder and PAY her taxes (to support old folks like me who are living the old folks welfare dream!) Some day she will wish this easy money was coming her way......her SS days are coming!

Realtors in this housing market complaining about not getting stimulus checks.

Ain’t America grand?

I can’t imagine it’s an easy time for a new realtor. With this tight of a market who wants a newbie? Experienced realtors are doing great I’d guess.

To op’s point, I’ve stopped griping about it but the the last stimulus was silly. 10k in income was the difference between one couple qualifying for full stimulus and another not getting a dime. And if mom and dad don’t qualify neither do the kids.

This is a bullshit story or she's dumb. If she has 3 unshared kids then she should file "Head of Household" and not "Single". I have 50/50 of my kids, make more than she does, and got all 3 stimulus payments.

That said I f'ing hate when a hairstylist starts talking too much (which they do often) and forgets why I'm there. They end up messing something up or not blending enough because they have someone's ear that has to listen and respond.

Realtors suck. All they do, literally the only thing they do, is create excessive inflation in housing prices by taking their absurd, unwarranted 5-6% cut. Useless profession.

Agreed. She should also have received partial payments in the first two stimulus checks, somewhere in the range of $2200 and $1900 respectively. Tax-free.

Not many people feels sorry for her or would use this as an argument that it was dumb. Especially if say she receives tax free child support for 3 kids.

And stop with the no pics becausd middle aged. Let us decide if worthy of wood or not!

He did say 85k adjusted gross income, which is after her deductions. So her income is over 100k before deductions. She needs to stop whining, a bunch of people lost their jobs and a significant amount of their income.

bad realtors suck, as do bad plumbers. I just bought and sold through a realtor and have no regrets. He worked his ass off for two years for us with no promise of a pay day. And we we’re about to do a remodel and he was quick to affirm that decision if it felt right.

This is true. Realtors can put in a ton of time.

If she has a legit complaint, I

If she has a legit complaint, I think she has recourse to at least some rebate $$ via her income tax return. She should consult with her tax specialist. I say this because I believe we received some credit for a stimulus check we never received. But I am kind of fuzzy on the specific details as our taxes resulted in a huge refund for us this year.

It's also a Tax Year 21 payment. Being in real estate she might make less this year and still get the payment when she files next year. It just sounds like a conversation where people really don't know much about what they're talking about.

They can also be helpful guides to novice homebuyers who don't really know the area, what to look for in a house, and how to explain contracts and how to protect homebuyers in certain situations.

Sure these things can be done by a homebuyer without a realtor but this can save a lot of time and headache. So, I don't necessarily think they are are useless.

And that's worth an extra 6% of your home's value? C'mon...
