Suck on that CJ Frederick

No, CScott was awesome and only left because of Alford. He wanted to stay here but he saw through on how crappy Alford was before the rest of us.

Also, we’re likely going to be recruiting Sommerville’s kid so be nice to him.
Sommerville had the best reason of any transfer, well maybe that kid whose mom got killed. The coach refused to play him. Sommerville was good. Can you imagine what he was thinking watching Worly continuously reach new levels of ineptitude as his career advanced, particularly the completely dumb fouls, where his 453 is surely some kind of record?

Any player who transfered during the lickliter years gets a free pass.

100% except Anthony Tucker. He just seemed like a waste of talent. Can’t fault J Pete and Jake Kelly. Definitely not built for Lickliter’s system. Wouldn’t have even blamed Gatens had he left. I wish Aaron Fuller would have gave Fran a chance.

Yeah he was our best player and just quit in the middle of the season. Although I’d be getting hammered constantly too if I had to play for Lickliter

Scott went to Oakland University, not Eastern Michigan.

And he was on their 2005 team that made the NCAA Tournament, which Iowa also played in.
Wasn't there a report Scott left because Alford wouldn't tell
Reggie Evans to back off what he thought was excessive physical abuse at practices. Reggie was what 6-8 250 and Scott was like 6-5 230. Could be wrong. Legend12 you remember why he left?

Good recall. While you are deep diving try and find that interview with Scott when he transferred. It provides great insight into Alford's quintessential failings.

I saw him and Trey Bullet driving away from Iowa City. We all know what they were driving.
Any particular reason you mentioned Trey Bullet and Dion Thomas together? Honest question, I thought Bullet just kind of disappeared but it was an interesting pairing you made... Had a connection to the basketball program when I was a kid and have some pictures together and some autographs from Trey. Figure a very tiny fraction of the fan base even remembers who that guy was.

No particular reason other than neither “played” at Iowa, although Bullet was on the team and Thomas wasn’t. Both were into some less than reputable behaviors, IIRC. Both from the Dr Tom era.

I’d bet a lot more Iowa fans remember Trey Bullet than a very tiny fraction. Even though his time in IC was relatively a short one.

To everyone listing other players who transfered I find it a little different when the player actually let's the coach known opposed to blatantly lying when asked and then running off in the middle of the night.

Dude, really? We win the Big Ten title and your first instinct is to attack a kid who transferred?

Nice.

Enjoy Cal Polytech, nerd!!!!

we’z playing Bball, you playing school.

These are all completely sarcastic posts about old transfers, for those here taking this way too serious. It’s not a lot, but a few aren’t seeing it.
I mean, with team chemistry, etc, I am grateful the people left that did . Well it might have been nice to have Nunge, but this team has gelled nicely. Who knows if different variables would have allowed that

This entire thread should be deleted.
My initial thoughts as well, but the mental gymnastics of recalling each and every transfer is invigorating.

Anyone remember the late 70's when the entire Evansville, Indiana team was killed in a plane crash? The next season Scott Kelly, Larry Olsthoorn and Jim Hallstrom all transferred to Evansville...

Oboy! And there were a bunch and always seemed to include the best player on the team. (minus Gatens).

Tyler Smith

then

Tony Freeman

then

Jake Kelly (and Jeff Peterson)

finally

Gatens (and Cole) threatened to. Fuller was gone regardless.
