This is a bummer as I've seen teams benefit from not playing a conference game and I've seen it bite teams in the ass when it comes to conference placement/tournament qualification. We are now playing the winning percentage game for conference placement as opposed to overall record. Obviously you want to win more than you lose. Next up is a midweek home game vs Bradley.

damn; i suppose we can't make this game up down the road?

Cancelled means it wont be made up. In the past you've seen a handful of B1G games postponed til Monday, but not very often. Northwestern used to be notorious for cancelling conference games when you could easily do a DH. I am not a fan at all of cancelling conference games because now we are playing the winning percentage game as far as conference standings go.

how much snow did iowa city get? i am surprised that can't clear the field for tomorrow

I saw 6-10 inches? I figured with field turf and Sunday being sunny and near 40 we'd play
I was wondering if they were equipped to deal with a significant snow, guess not. But, yeah had they been able to just get the snow off they could have played, unlike Pearl Field which will probably be unplayable for several days or more.

Six inches so far in our yard in Coralville. and still snowing lightly. High tomorrow is 39 so that means thirties during the morning. And, heavy, wet snow. Just not a good recipe for game three. Not preferred but I believe the right call.

that sucks; would have been huge if we could have taken the series 2 games to 1 vs the #11 team in the USA!!

its too bad they could not have called for volunteers to bring snow blowers, shovels and brooms, but i guess that might not have worked very well....LOL

on a side note, I live in the Twin Cites and Target Field has underground heating coils; they turn them on in March, melting any snow and allowing the grass to grow; the melted snow gets recycled where it is used to water the field; too bad Banks Field did not have the same technology LOL

I will add that Minnesota/Rutgers canceled a whole series last year and made up two games the Mon/Tue before the B1G tournament. I don't see Iowa/Indiana doing that this year although I'd encourage it if a B1G tournament spot or title was on the line.
