Super Random Ed Hinkel Question

I have searched and searched and I can't find how many stars Hinkel had coming out of high school. Does anyone know? I know he put up some pretty epic numbers in high school playing all over the field.

Eddie was a QB in HS, so stars were prolly 2-3

If I recall, Hinkel would have been equivalent to a high 3-star recruit these days. I think he had a couple other P5 offers, and perhaps a late offer from PSU.

Yeah I'd like to know this too. Just in the last 10 years or so? Also I wonder if he was listed as an ATH or if they had him at a specific position since it sounds like he did everything in HS.

I think the Rivals star system started gaining traction right around Hinkel's class. The star system was in place for most of Iowa's 2002-2004 run.

I was not aware of the ND offer. I'm glad he was a Hawkeye. Ed was one of my all time favorite Iowa receivers. His hands were pure glue and his speed was much better than most thought. Ed had tons of heart and I really thought he'd make it in the league.

The major hang-up I remember NFL scouts had with him was hand size...yes, hand size. I guess circus catches in the back of the end zone be damned...his hands weren't big enough for the NFL.
