Harris was perfect through the first three innings in the opener, and then Arkansas hitters made a great adjustment by taking away a specific part of the zone. Surprisingly, he couldn't adjust himself and they hit him around. Hall was brilliant today, throwing a complete game 1-hitter and Missouri St. evened the series up and turned it into a one-game series to qualify for the CWS.
Just finished an evening in Champaign. Duchene couldn't spot the inside third of the plate and Vanderbilt tore apart the second best pitcher in the Big Ten. Fulmer got away with showing up the home plate umpire several times, but being an All-American and the SEC Pitcher of the year seemed to intimidate blue. Illinois got two of their five hits in the first inning, but failed to score. During the changeover one of the scouts I was sitting with made the comment "Illinois just lost". For having around 5-thousand in attendance, Illini fans provided little to no energy or atmosphere. The Big Ten's best chance at the CWS now have their backs against the wall.
