Yup. I thought from the beginning that Iowa's loss to MSU in the regionals last week had more to do with what Iowa didn't do than what MSU did do. It wasn't the same Iowa team we saw throughout the regular season. And MSU, being on the road this time, didn't have the home cookin' behind the plate that they enjoyed in their games last weekend.

Well, we can debate what went wrong last weekend. All I know is that Iowa did not get the timely hit and they had plenty of chances.

Harris was perfect through the first three innings in the opener, and then Arkansas hitters made a great adjustment by taking away a specific part of the zone. Surprisingly, he couldn't adjust himself and they hit him around. Hall was brilliant today, throwing a complete game 1-hitter and Missouri St. evened the series up and turned it into a one-game series to qualify for the CWS.

Just finished an evening in Champaign. Duchene couldn't spot the inside third of the plate and Vanderbilt tore apart the second best pitcher in the Big Ten. Fulmer got away with showing up the home plate umpire several times, but being an All-American and the SEC Pitcher of the year seemed to intimidate blue. Illinois got two of their five hits in the first inning, but failed to score. During the changeover one of the scouts I was sitting with made the comment "Illinois just lost". For having around 5-thousand in attendance, Illini fans provided little to no energy or atmosphere. The Big Ten's best chance at the CWS now have their backs against the wall.

Yeah basically

There are a few Iowans playing, too. McKinney at Arkansas, Puk at Florida, Kerian at Illinois. Zach Burdi was a former Iowa recruit now at Louisville. I'm sure there are some others that I over looked.

Hopefully in the future, all we'll have to do to see those Iowans play is look at the Iowa roster.
