T Smith TD vs MSU.....,

Be Careful what you say, some posters will not like that you are giving credit to MSU. Its like flipping them the middle finger??

Well, every one is entitled to their opinion. I've been a life long Iowa fan and can safely say there are plenty of mental midgets and delusional idiots within this fan base--just like everywhere else.

If some Iowa fans on here have an issue with reality, that's their problem. A lot of those same fans were probably the most vociferous voices...err, anonymous keystrokers on here last year at this time sounding off about how Kirk Ferentz was just stacking paper and swimming in a pool of apathy and incompetence. You don't hear too much about that type of sentiment anymore, do you?

Anyway, thanks for the head's up, Davenport. ;) I'll put on my big boy pants and deal with the keystrokers with the rippling cyber-muscles.

Michigan State also ran the ball 46 times. Iowa ran it 24. Having 22 more rushing attempts is a big difference that would explain the large discrepancy in rushing yardage. And a ypc difference of 1.6 is not a huge difference, especially when you factor in a -15 yard rushing play by the quarterback.

The biggest difference in the game was the last drive. Credit to Michigan State.

But as far as the point you raised (MSU better up front) and statistics you provided to try to substantiate that point are concerned, sorry, no dice. Like I said, line play was pretty equal. If you had stated Michigan State was more balanced on offense, had out gained Iowa by almost 100 yards, and won the turnover battle 3-1 as the reason MSU was better that day, you would have had a credible claim.

You can spin it how you want but MSU had over 3x the amount of rushing yards than Iowa.

Are you really that stupid? That's a serious question.

Michigan State ran the ball 22 more times than Iowa did. That's not a spin. That's a fact.

Why was MSU able to run the ball 22 more times?

MSU dominated time of possession and total offensive plays run. That's a sign of winning the battle up front.

MSU dominated time of possession because of the last drive. They were also 50% on 3rd down. Iowa was a meager 3/12 on 3rd down and had 3 turnovers. Points I already conceded. Up until the last drive, the battle in the trenches was virtually even.

Your original comment was that MSU dominated both sides of the ball the entire game. I'm simply pointing out that the statistics don't back that up and neither does the eye test for those who watched the game. If Michigan State was so dominant up front, they would have had a hell of lot more than 174 yards rushing on nearly 50 attempts. C'mon, man.

I went back and re-watched the game again and There were about 5-6 shots to the head by BOTH teams that were not called. So I really can't get upset over that one missed call. Sorry Iowa had plenty of chances after that to put in the end zone and they couldn't do it. Some times you have to tip your cap to the winner and MSU deserved that game. 22 play drives are only found on Video games.

If it takes you 22 plays to score on a video game you....... well probably suck at video games. :) Having said that, I don't play video games anymore.

I have not picked up a video game controller since I was in college (10+) years ago. I just remember my roommates were playing each other in Madden and the loser had to do chores (dishes, clean bathrooms, etc). Well basically the one took 18 plays to score to win it. He took up the entire 4th quarter (8min) to win it. My other roommate got so pissed, but he lost and had to clean.

The sad thing is the wife bought me a PS3 a while back and I haven't even used that?? She was going to buy me a PS4 when it came out and I said, for what? I don't play them anymore, if anything I use it more for Netflix and other online TV watching.
