My wife and I watched the first season or 2 of Yellowstone and liked it, but she started to get the feeling that it was getting a little melodramatic and soap-operaish. We didn't watch the other series, but recently did a trial of Sheridan Plus (sorry, Paramount Plus) and tried Landman, after seeing some good reviews. Got to the first part of the second episode, and the stuff with the daughter was just so stupid and over the top, had to stop. Went to Lioness, without realiing it was another TS show. Again, seemed to have promise, but it is so overdramatized, it just turned it off. Anybody else feel like his stuff is just so over the top it's hard to watch?

Agree about Landman, the writing of Billy Bob's daughter and wife are terrible. Billy Bob is great, but not sure if I'll make it through the whole season. Also agree about Yellowstone, but I can get past the issues due to the strength of the characters/actors, although I'm still in season 4 and it's been months since I've watched.

Haven't seen any other of his shows. But from these two, I get the sense that he's found a niche/lane that is working and that's what you'll get.

I got tired of Landman when it started sounding like an oil and gas commercial. But I understand where OP is coming from about the 2nd epidode. We didn't finish 1883, 1923, and Lioness. We have watched every episode, thus far, of Mayor of Kingstown. Although violent and somewhat unbelievable, we enjoyed it.

Were they a little more grounded than the original Yellowstone?

It's been a while. 1883 reminded me of Oregon Trail the video game, but with more people dying. I hardly remember what the other one was about now anymore. I'm not sure I would call either grounded.

1883, 1923 and Lioness I've liked the most. Landman is entertaining if nothing else. Yellowstone was pretty good for a couple of seasons and then took a nosedive... never finished it. Sheridan often just can't stay out of his own way. I think his 15-minutes are almost up... seems like people have turned on him.

Some of you are so damn picky. Shows are to be entertaining, not all have to make sense or be Oscar worthy. I have watched all/most of his shows (Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, Lioness, Landman, Tulsa King) and I enjoyed them all.

Yellowstone - Loved the first 3 seasons. Last couple were duds.
1883 - Great Show
1923 - Great Show
Mayor of Kingstown - Super Great Show
Tulsa King - Pretty good (haven't seen S2)
Special Ops: Lioness - Season 1 was solid, S2 completely deviated from the premiss.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves - Slow, but great writing and acting--think Andor.
Land Man - Haven't seen.
